I tried adjusting color and converting to b/w, but this pretty much SOOC jpeg seems the best to me....

Were the fireworks red/orange? Is that why everyone's faces are so... glowing? Did you try to filter out various colours on the b&w conversion?

That I didn't try...I will. The firework must have been a big red or orange one......that street light in the background and the sky are the right colors. When I tried to correct the color to more natural skin tones, it just washes out......and when I tried to dial back the saturation, the faces look underexposed. I'll try messing with the color channels on a b/w when I get home from work, but I think the color version will likely still be the keeper. I'll get down with my Silver Efex tonight and see what I can scrape up.
