Fuji X-E3

You know gear a lot better than most people. The average person does not know gear well enough to realize that a camera is taped off, especially from a distance.

I think the SLR shape, especially with a grip/built in grip, screams hired photographer to most people. Where the rangefinder body screams dad with camera taking snapshots.

Strange. I have never been confused with a hired photographer using my X-T20. Then again, I remember seeing traces of disbelief when I was actually hired to do a wedding and showed-up with a single X-T10 pre-production camera.

Taped cameras scream "I've got something to hide." That's why I'm always using untaped prototypes, especially in highly crowded public environments, where hundreds or thousands of strangers see me openly carrying the camera within an hour. Works nicely. Like hiding a unique coin in a pile of regular coins.

It could be because of living in the U.S where if they don't see a name brand they don't acknowledge it. Also could be because I use a short thin piece of gaff tape that is hard to see. But I get less noticed taped then untaped. And even far more less noticed with a rangefinder than a SLR style body.

The weddings I've shot with the gripped X-T1, everyone knew that I was the hired photographer. The two I shot with the Pro2, no one batted an eye. Which is only important for people who shoot a lot of candids.

I spotted this on the MirrorlessRumors site:

"Fuji:
they will finally make a pause on the X camera front
smile.png
Some lenses will be released by end 2017 but we will probably have to wait til 2018 too see new X system cameras."

Could this be true? Will there not be an X-E3? That would be a major disappointment for me as someone who invested with Fujifilm with an X-E1 and then an X-E2.

No one not under NDA knows when the X-E3 will be announced. Fuji Rumors thinks it will be sometime this year. And even if the rumor you quoted is true, it does not say that there will not be an X-E3. Just not one this year. Fuji knows there are a lot of people waiting for the new sensor in a lower cost rangefinder body.

I worried there will be many suicides and a possible world monatery failure if Fuji doesn't release the X-E3 in the next couple of months.

The Teaser

I’m working on it, and I think I know at least 1 of these new technologies (a hardware based feature). Just give me the time to collect all permissions needed from sources to share it on FR, and you will read it on FR (shouldn’t take long).

Nope. I will not unveil anything privately via email. I will publish it on FujiRumors, so it will be very democratic: everybody will know at the same time :) .

But so far, I know only of 1 new feature. Our trusted source, though, said “some” new technologies. At this point thanks again to the trusted source for the hint… now I know I have still some homework to do :) "

I believe his readership is low on his site and He's trying to ramp it up with these very vague and BS sounding statements.

kinda letdown for me, that the feature he was talking about turned out to be just bluetooth..

weather resistance would have been better, since i might sell off my x-t2 if the x-e3 will at least be an x-t20 in rangefinder format, but with weather resistance

A joystick on an XE body would mean that I'd FIND a way to buy one. I prefer that body style over SLR, I prefer paying less, and I move my AF point every second or third shot. Ye gods, man, that would be nice.

If Fuji adds all the things that some think is necessary Im not sure that "paying less" will happen anymore.

Only if Fuji makes just one version of the X-E3. If there is a "consumer" stripped down model, and a "pro" model with dual cards/weather sealing/better buffer/etc then people will have a lower cost option. While I like using the optical viewfinder on the Pro2 for fun. I could live without it and the extra few hundred dollars of cost it adds to Fuji's pro rangefinder body.
