For challenge 22 the topic is Neighbor. Interpret the topic it in any way that portrays your actual neighbors, people you think as neighbors, a former neighbors, or maybe something that depicts neighbors to you. Inspired by Mr Rodgers: "Won't you be my neighbor"

The challenge will run until approx. Oct 25th.

And the rules, as always, are:

1. Either take pictures that match the nominated theme or select some from your portfolio. You must be the photographer that created the images in order to enter it.

2. Only one entry per salon, please. If you want to withdraw an entry and replace it with another, that is OK, but you must make it clear in the post containing your replacement pictures that this is what you've done. You can add or change the title and add to the edit line to let everyone know.

3. The decision of the curator at the end of the challenge is final - don't give him/her a hard time about it: this is just a friendly photo-challenge, after all!

4. The winner will assume the responsibility of curator for the next Challenge, and as soon as possible post a message in a new thread in the Cameraderie Photo Challenges forum, with details of the new theme. Don't forget - that opening message must include a copy of these instructions, which also double as the rules.

5. The curator cannot enter his or her own salon.

Good luck!

My favorite neighbor of all time: Alexa. Her mom told me she just loved bringing me my mail nearly every day. She also brought me snacks, helped me put together a tablesaw and blew me kisses. Such a sweetheart and it was a very sad day for me when they moved away after 4 years (she was barely a year old when I rented them the unit next door).

Neighbors sometimes have a surprising sense of humor.

Walking around the neighborhood where I live, I paused to admire the early Halloween decorations by a neighbor I had never met. He saw me taking pictures and came out to greet me in what I can only describe as a neighborly way. We started talking about his Halloween-Zombie-hanging-from-the-front-porch and agreed that the best part was the Zombie's surprised expression, and the way he (the Zombie) was holding his hands. And, being in a neighborly mood, he volunteered to demonstrate. And---

Did I mention? sometimes neighbors have a surprising sense of humor.

Seems as if there are not as many photos from this group of our neighbors or neighbours as I had hoped for. Nonetheless, still a couple more days if any one else would like to submit.

Thanks for all the submissions.
Results are in:

davect01: this looks like what neighbors are all about. nice shot

jim McClain: I love this image. So sweet to see, fits the theme perfectly

MiquelATF: this guy looks like he would be a great neighbor. Interestingly this image make me want to know about him

bartjeej: beautiful image, but it is upside down on my screen. Still looks like a great place to get to know neighbors

rayvonn: i like this view of the neighborhood, but seems a bit distant and while it was probably a great place to live, this seems a bit like surbubia anywhere

briar: tortoro. Karen, this is one of my favorite movies, as are almost all of Ghibli’ films. Jealous that you are going to visit , hope you enjoy it

drd1135: cold and lonely, but still neighbors in the returning to the earth. Nice take on the theme

ricks: the anticipation? who will move in and could that just be the best neighbor yet?

Tough choice but I have to go with Jim McClain’s image. The look on this little girls face is perfect. We all should be lucky enough to have a neighbor like that.
Jim, I pass the challenge on to you.
