Leica Showcase CL with 50mm Summilux? It's not to be done carelessly...

So I thought that the 50mm f1.4 'Lux would be an eminently good choice for casual shooting with the CL..... Not so fast, I went out yesterday for a walk with it and upon returning dowloaded the images into the computer with LR. I did not get many keepers. Sadly, the shots I really wanted to keep had to be erased. Probably the thing that makes to 'Lux such a great lens for portraits is the thing that makes it difficult (for me) to use with the CL and get the results I wanted.

I'm sure that shooting wide open and with the camera not steadily held, produced mostly blurred and out of focus images.. Also, I guess the camera did not automatically recognized the lens so I also had images with a noticeable amount of chromatic aberration.. Oh well, I guess the effective 75mm FL is not easy to use in a camera w/o IBIS or a very steady hand/fast shutter speed.

Heavy image content, one of my favorites is the old Kodak sign.... These were the ones I though were not too bad.

Which version of the Summilux do you have?

By F2, my 1930s Leica 5cm F1.5 Xenon does not show chromatic aberration. It is the basis of the Summarit, which is the same formula as the V1 Summilux.

Is there a way to manually enter the lens being used? I have an easier time believing the camera firmware "screwed-up" applying the wrong corrections to the image than believing a Summilux showed a lot of chromatic aberration. Maybe the sensor stack? Leica is usually careful about such things.

I like to keep a Canon 50/1.5 on my CL- the original RF film camera. The Canon lens fits in the CL pouch case, the lens is tiny.

I have the SUMMILUX-M ASPH 50/1.4 which is the latest. I was surprised to see the CA in the images. There is a way to enter the lens ID manually, but I forgot to do it. I imagine the camera's firmware does whatever adjustments it's programmed to do to an "unknown" lens. I went out again and shot similar areas of the city with the 'Lux, this time I made sure that the proper lens profile was entered and used a monopod and stepped down the opening. I think the results are much better.
