This one goes back to 3rd January 2012, the third day of the very first SIJ, and by far the worst weather of those 31 days, surprisingly it only rained on 3 days that month. I was standing in a neighbours garden waiting for the bus to appear. I remember it was Julie driving, she gave me a friendly wave and a smile and probably thought what on earth is he doing out there? It's a rather noisy image but I guess it's about atmosphere as much as anything.

The lens in use was a Voigtlander 12mm Ultra Wide-Heliar which I used throughout the SIJ. I think my SIJ submission might have been in colour.

The sun rises (or Early bus to Salcombe)

Another from the archives, though little more than a year old being from early September 2019. I'd originally processed this by what I'd thought to be a "clever" method in RawTherapee only to find noise had spoilt the image. A subtle change to the processing method seems to have overcome that issue so at least another sleepless night has been put to some good use.

What's SIJ?

Single in January, vary the last letter to suit the month. Then they were on an annual basis, so the very first one was in in January 2012, co-ordinated in those days by stillshunter (Mark) from Australia which actually resulted in a book being published showing to favourite shots from each participant. It's a challenge to take and post one photograph per day for the month in question. Originally the idea was to use one camera and one lens for the whole month, that "rule" has been relaxed in recent years.

These clouds have a special name (which I've forgotten, obviously some form of cirrus), they were mentioned on the national weather forecast so they attracted attention. That was on 20th July this year, photographed from the field west of my cottage. This is from an in camera jpeg processed minimally in GIMP, mainly some sharpening applied to the luminosity channel in LAB mode (a slightly convoluted process in GIMP).

Oh, no exif data, it's the Ricoh GXR with an M module, either the 12mm Ultra Wide-Heliar or the 15mm Super Wide-Heliar (not that that bit would have shown up)

Sorry everyone but it's still raining here (you'll all be praying it stops soon, I know I am), so I'm continuing to trawl back through my hard drives. This image taken at New Bridge (there's a lot of those) which spans the River Dart west of Ashburton in Devon dates from 26th October 2009.

Perhaps I'll stop for a while and tidy the house up, one more before I do. This dates back to the first ever Kingsbridge Vintage Bus Rally on 20th September 2008, the bus itself, a Bristol 5 dates back to 1939 and has to be one of my favourites that attends the rally. Indeed it's the only one that has attended on every year since, except of course 2020 when for reasons we all know about there was no rally. Here it's waiting at Whitestrand, Salcombe for its return run to Kingsbridge.

A friendly wave
This MG TF1500 was photographed on 15th September 2012. The MG T series started production in 1936 as the MG TA, the type often seen being driven by RAF pilots in WWII films. This was the last of the series with 3400 being produced between mid 1954 and April 1955. (Obviously it's still raining here and no, the house didn't really get tidied up).
