Canon Anyone Canon RP users here?

One condition of getting one of these new cameras for me is a quick straightforward quick and effective way of using my adapted lenses but it seems like the RP Nikon Z and A7II cameras, both of which I’ve looked at can’t do this as effectively as my old X-T1. Shame.

Leica KAF-18500 CCD used in the M9 and M Monochrom is discontinued, Sensor replacement no longer possible

Surely someone somewhere will provide maintenance for the CCD cameras, I really hope so anyway. I would also hope to get another 10 years out of mine but if not, maybe the M262 is the closest to that in terms of rendering.

Stroll Seen while strolling...walking and wandering outside

Ah the joys of owning a Leica. I always tell people you have to expect, even embrace the regular issues like this when owning one. Much to my surprise though, the handheld rocket blaster worked like a charm for me so I can definitely recommend that.

    Planet Garbage

This scene today immediately made me think of this thread. This is 5 minutes away from a botanical garden. If I'm kind, I'd say this may well not be there if we weren't living in these times, the people paid to clear this up would have been stood down and I can't imagine there'd be much...

    Gear Porn

One of my regrets from using that setup was I didn't use the VF4 often enough, it's superb.

    That “Clinical” Look

That was my experience too, it always seemed to be about the snappy AF of the lens when compared to the Lumix 20 f1.7 as opposed to the rendering. Having said that, I have seen quite a few examples of the Oly 17 rendering like the 75 f1.8 from plenty of posters on the mu43 forum. Makes we wonder...

    Personal gear review

Read the post, thanks Ad. Must admit, haven’t used legacy lenses on many cameras at all but using them on my old XT1 was brilliance in its simplicity. I thought it would be like that on all cameras and am a bit dumbfounded it isn’t, especially on the A7RII.

Yep, but the 7s is considerably newer that those you mentioned so I like that Sony continued in that vein.

GAS: Please Share your Latest Desires Big and Small

Only 12 megapickels but some of the images I've seen from even the first version of that camera taken in the middle of the night look quite remarkable, regardless of the lens used. It does seem unique.

Interesting. Ok, so A7RII = manual lenses only then. A damn fine camera for manual lenses though.

Interesting comment about the AF, was it really that bad?

Canon Canon EOS R5: Big if True

If I was going to pay well over $10k for an R5 and native zooms/ primes, these adverse stories wouldn't be putting me off. As a non professional, if I want to take a video I use my phone like 99% of the world.

    That “Clinical” Look

Great question, “clinical” and “character” being another of those subjective terms like “bokeh” and “street photography” where there is no official answer/ explanation, it’s really up to you and how you see it. What does it mean to me? Well, it’s all well and good having a technically perfect...

As a GAS suppression technique, it might be a good idea to just list everything you've bid on over the last year or so, read it, then give yourself a slap. My gear's under control and has been for a while, but just thinking over the the gear I've bid on but either lost or won then pulled out of...

I put a bid in for a Canon EF 85mm F1.2 today. Haven't even got a Canon DSLR:laugh: But the starting bid was low and it's obvious a lens like that is going to create magic so I'd be quite happy for it to sit there if the price is low. Missed out by $20.

A hazy day realistically shot. I can relate to that as I've just posted a similar colour shot in the clouds thread, it's not like you can just wait in the hope of it dissapearing, you have to take the shot.

    Show Contextual Bokeh!

Very true, front focus, commonly at the back or preferably both, it's the quality of the lens and relevant focus distance relevant to that particular lens that seems to count and I'm at the stage where I *think* I know which of my lenses are better then the other than the other for that. A...
