Leica I just want the lens cap . . .

I see that Leica designers by now understand that we cherish no NEED lenses with many blades . . But I'm afraid the marketing dept never told the engineers . .

Leica KAF-18500 CCD used in the M9 and M Monochrom is discontinued, Sensor replacement no longer possible

I have the Monochrom and occasionally cleaned the sensor with the kit supplied in a sensor clening kit, and that came with abottle of isoprpyl alcohol. When the corrosion was ‘a hype’ I saw some small specs on close looks (not very visible at my usual wide appertures). Nevertheless I ‘made...

Leica An oldie and goodie -- the Luminous Landscape review about Leica M240

I promissed my wife not to buy the M10-R. I told her when buying the M240 too that this was the last one I'ld buy. Ever. Honoust. - But I am scheming to sell my very good M240-P, and add the few thousand in cash needed. No I am not thinking (well, I did, for 10 secs) about selling my...

    Leica Leica M10-R (and M11)

I am also contemplating this direction, and having much odd glass (Voigtlander, Jupiter, Russar, Orion etc. - the usual stuff to play with) I think that there is a good reason, the better handling of these wide lenses. Surprising for me though is that already my M240 has no trouble with the...

    Leica TTArtisan to announce a 50mm f/1.4 M-mount lens!

Results as given in Flickr look very good on the M10-Monochrome. Great for portrait, I see no hectic shift in sharpness. And in the pictures the detail contrast stopped down like the EXIF says, to 2.8 or 3.2 - is very good too. The mTF charts look good. I say, great. As such, it betters my...

    Leica 50mm woes

I like the Canon a lot, in low light. Out in the field it has the Gaussian characters: small and thin focal plane wide open, with a lot of attention to the smallest artifacts of the skin, somewhat like the last generations of Leica lenses. Follow the finger She helped me a bit :) The lens...

Leica What adapter to use for Nikkor-PC 10.5cm

I have the same problem withe A adapter, but the 50 vs 90 mm framelines is a bigger problem For me .. The Nikkor-PC lens is gorgeous by the way.

Leica Adapting a Jupiter-3 in Contax mount for optimum wide open performance

Thanks. I did it, worked out fine. Apart from that I to turn it off, I held the diaphragm ring also in the hand, and that slipped a bit so that is off-center now, display does not show 1.5 but just before that. :-(( Stupid me. But the black ring on the outside is sooo small. Should have used...

Leica Adapting a Jupiter-3 in Contax mount for optimum wide open performance

Thanks. I have used brown baking paper in the past (it is coated) and it can be easily cut (to the contrary of aluminium foil). This is measuable to be about 100n for a layer. So I should take the head out completely, add the little paper ring, place it behind the existing shim for sturdiness...

Leica Adapting a Jupiter-3 in Contax mount for optimum wide open performance

Yes, one single screw, about 2 mm from the bottom. Then, if I turn it loose, I expect the head will be able to turn loose from the filter ring up front. I also expect that if I only unscrew the lens by say 90 degrees the focus will be optimum at F 1.5. Are my expectations too high ? Then I...

Leica Adapting a Jupiter-3 in Contax mount for optimum wide open performance

In the past I had a 1962 Jupiter-3 in LTM, that was impossible to focus consistently (front focus issieus well known because of different Leica body register). I had adapted it myself through some twisting to work superbly wide open. Unfortunately I sold it. I regretted it the day after. The day...

Leica Company in the United Kingdom offering Professional Lens conversion to Leica AND a new Sonnar

This is exciting. Should have known they service and calibrate before selling some of my unfocussing 50mm FSU's that were optically rather good and could match the quality of Leica.. I had seen several of their lenses on the UK Bay some time ago. I added them to my favorites and look forward...

Leica Close focus hack of Canon 50mm F1.4?

Thanks, yes did something like that with a J-8 as experiment (baking paper is excellent) but I can’t do it on the run. A dedicated ring is a good separate attachment I guess.

Leica Close focus hack of Canon 50mm F1.4?

I have a Canon 50mm F1.4 and it is very sharp, good focus. Great up close (has been adjusted by van Maanen Zoetermeer, nl). Now the close focus distance is 1.00 m. Not very practical, I mean, it leaves a lot to wish for. Could it be possible to 'hack' this lens and take out a bit of internal...

Leica Heads-Up, Amedeo is putting his Adapters up on Ebay again-

It would be lovely if Amedeo extends his range - and introduces adapters with the two other framelines (35 and 90). I have a very sharp (extremely . . ) Nikkor 85mm but it is shoot and pray.
