Nikon Nikon A / Ricoh GR / Fuji X70 with the RX100 just to confuse things

I don't think there will be much more development of Fuji cameras with a 2/3" sensor. The X30 was the last one and is discontinued. If there are no expectations for a new firmware with more enhancements like faster AF or so these could be a cheap choice of cameras.

Getty Images and a few of my photos

A few pictures of me on Flickr were asked by Getty to offer them. But this needed an account and an agreement. Now Getty Images and Flickr aren't working together any more and are separated (and I had closed my account on Getty Images completely). There is still a Getty group on Flickr if I...

Micro 4/3 The New King of Bokeh?

I'd never trust only a given name to a lens because of its ability in a special realm. There is a 'Bokeh King', a Bokina and more 'Bokeh Monsters'. The Lumix 42.5 seems to be quite nice at least on a Panasonic camera. If I would ever buy a µ43 combination this and a GX80 could be a possible...

Besides the lesser sharpness one thing in comparison to a GR could be impotant for someone who wants to use a prism viewer on this. The screen can't be turned off.

This could be related to the problem you're describing diglloyd Mirrorless - Sigma Photo Pro Software 6.x - X3F vs JPEG: Color Space Error (diglloyd.com excerpt) But I couldn't present a solution. In my workflow generally I exported a 16-bit Tiff with rough processing in Lightroom for further...

Fuji New firmware for Fuji X-E2

Today the "old" X-E2 got an update who add a lot of features of the newer cameras of Fuji. Here is a description of the new features (thanks to fuji's idea of Kaizen) Substantial firmware updates for the X-E2, delivering a new AF system for better capture of moving subjects among other...

Have you ever been surprised by a camera?

Was impressed by the IQ of Sigma Foveon images (DP2,DP1s) at low ISO viewing them at my monitor and this was repeated by the Merrils. Was impressed by holding my X100 for the haptics of a 30y old camera. Was surprised first by the IQ of the Ricoh GR in such a small body and the easiness to...

    My Newest Addiction - Penmanship

Well, my hand writing was very bad at primary school (and after) where we did use ink pens always. At begin it was forbidden to use something other. I've tested once a fountain pen, but not for long. At one time I was interested in calligraphy, too, so I've bought a few Rotring Art Pens.

    Best 85mm solution

These are not my set of pictures and only thought as an example to describe the reason why I decided not to buy it to that price as it was presented by Fuji. Grass and leaves are very difficult for a lens to generate a smooth bokeh. And I own a lot of manual lenses with this focal length range...

    Best 85mm solution

I think the example pictures for the XF56 above your answer are meant to be ironical to show the contrary :) The XF56 is not bad and is sure one of the best f/1.2 lenses around. In my own opinion it could produce a very smooth bokeh but like almost every fast lens who is overcorrected the...

    Best 85mm solution

In my own opinion I wouldn't prefer the solution of a X-E1 and XF 56. The X-E1 is noticeable slower than the later Fuji cameras because it is technically a X-Pro1 without OVF. There is no phase AF, too. The old but newer X-E2 will get a firmware update for faster AF next month. At a few sample...

    Fuji Fuji X70

Mh, the price seems a bit high for me to justify it against a GR. And I'm unsure if the abilities of a X-T10 wouldn't be better (without lens the x-t10 is cheaper). It would be good if the TCL Adapter of the X100 would fit. On the other side a x100t is not so much more expensive now.

Would you buy a larger-sensor Nikon mirrorless?

After the Nikon 1 and Df I doubt Nikon really is knowing what their costumers want or where the innovation lies. Sony and Olympus are here a step ahead at the moment. Don't misunderstand this: I love my Df and from time to time I use my J3 again. But the Df was not the thing Nikon promoted (as a...

Film Stupid Medium Format Film Question (don't laugh)

One time I had to open a film cassette at midday and sunshine because my first try to load it with 120 film led to a rip off the paper flag. After this I could develop a lot of the film without exposure marks. I wouldn't recommend this or the change of film at direct sunshine but normally it's...

Nikon Turns out I'm a bit of a bokeh whore - who knew?!?!?!

I'm not absolutely sure but this could be a sign of modern lens construction. Older lenses often have defined rings in the backround. At newer ones the background blur (if they are optimized and not too harsh because of aspheric elements) is often very smooth in contrast to the foreground.

Nikon Turns out I'm a bit of a bokeh whore - who knew?!?!?!

I'm always on the search after a good bokeh lens. I've noticed my taste of what a good bokeh had has to be had changed and will change. Sometimes I'm searching for a good isolation of my subject. Sometimes I like a smooth or more defined bokeh. There are always phases where I'm eager to test a...

Yes it seems not the usual uniform and unpersonal build. Perhaps that was the point why I choose to make the photo, although the surrounding and high of the statue didn't impress me especially.

Medium Format Lenses on Mirrorless Cameras

Thank you. For the conversion in black&white I've used DXO Filmpack. On a DSLR the Mamiya appears to have a acceptable size in comparison to a mirrorless.
