Home Cooking? Recipes in a time of Quarantine!

Super easy comfort chili beans. My mom used to make this for us all the time. One can(15oz) chili beans with sauce One can(15oz) kidney beans One can(15oz) stewed Italian stewed tomatoes - key for me - gives it a light sweet taste One half pound ground(or more) - lately using impossible meat <...

    Nikon 100mm F2.8E

And one a little closer in. Nice neutral OOF render. Sometimes I wish it was a bit more funky.

    Nikon 100mm F2.8E

A nice compact 100mm F2.8 lens that was designed to be a value option. Wasn't allowed to carry the Nikkor name with its plasticky build. Which actually translates well to this modern mirrorless age being lighter and cheaper. My copy is sharp but needs a few stops for out of camera contrast. It...

    Nifty Fifty

For me the cool, compact feature holds too much of a premium and the C should've been the B. Sale pricing right now on an A7Rii is $1298(cheaper than the 7ii). A7iii is $1698 - $100 cheaper than the C. It's not a new tech FF for $1299 but still ticks many boxes. I guess Sony doesn't need a B...

    Nifty Fifty

I think Canon has laid down a nice foundation for the "affordable FF" system. An RP.2 with the 5D4 sensor. Add budget RFs in 24, 40 pancake and 70-300. Third part support. And adaptable EF. Sony's A7C is cool but the A7B had better come out soon.

    Advice on a gift camera

2014 vs 2020 tech. 3.5 touchscreen LCD - worth half the upgrade the first time she sees it and the other half the first time she shows it to someone. Fuji simulations could be a lot of fun. Who doesn't love a new camera? You're a good brother.

I really like(d) the forward placement of the control rings. Nice for aperture changes.

    Fuji Viltrox 56mm F1.4

Size and weight are nice. It sports a small-ish 52mm filter. Build feels nice and the metal barrel and hood give it an impression that it cost more or at least that it's worth the sticker. It has a click-less aperture ring. I can live with it. AF speed and accuracy seem fine. Sharpness and OOF...

Canon RF and 24-105 lens for $999

That price should make some Canon shooters happy. It's small and light with decent AF. Adapted EF lenses work very well. No regrets, it was a smooth system dump with a minimal cost. And the system is now out of my system. I did love the programmable control ring on the RF 35.

Tried to get one of those to use with the RP. Settled with the 1.8stm and the 1.4usm. Definitely not the Sigma. That looks like a clean copy.

I had a Viltrox 56mm 1.4 arrive the other day. It shipped in the OEM box with a plastic envelope for added protection. Needless to say, the AF wouldn't focus closer than 3M. It's on it's way back to the owner now. I was very impressed by the size/build and the images at the 3M range were very...
