Coffee addiction? ☕ Try FreshPotix, endorsed by Dave Grohl

I can only handle a certain level of caffeine at a time but am addicted to having 2 cups of coffee a day. It works great as an analgesic to make joint pain manageable every day. My doctor once told me it was easier on my stomach than ibuprofen (I sometimes need it as well to relieve pain so I...

What books are you reading for pleasure these days?

RANDOM SH*T FLYING THROUGH THE AIR (Frost Files #2) by Jackson Ford. The first book in the series was THE GIRL WHO COULD MOVE SH*T WITH HER MIND. Really fun reading.

What books are you reading for pleasure these days?

I'll get Peace Talks and Battle Ground when they come out in paperback. It's been so long since Jim Butcher has put out any books in this series that I can wait until the lower priced books come out. I have a couple of dozen books from various authors on the shelf to read in the meantime.

The Olympus images look natural in their color and general image quality but the Nikon photos look overcooked and have all sorts of...

    Proprioception

Proprioception is at a high level with aerobatic and fighter pilots. Lots of athletes have very highly tuned proprioceptive skills that inform their position and orientation in relation to competitors. Bobby Orr and Wayne Gretzky both displayed it in spades.

I don't know if this meets the criteria but it shares some design similarities with the building that started this thread; specifically the twisting offset floor plates. What makes this building particularly loathsome in the minds of most locals is the name of the current occupant of the US...

I Have Realized I Have Feelings On OVF vs EVF

I used an SLR for about 30 years, then used a variety of digital P&S cameras on a very occasional basis. I hated the shutter lag and the difficulty of using an LCD screen in bright sunlight. I decided in 2014 that I needed an ILC camera but didn't want to haul large, heavy lenses around. I...

    How's weather at your place?

We're in a 'hot streak' at the moment - high of 28C (82F) and a little smoke haze from the US West coast wildfires. Nothing like what San Francisco and LA are experiencing in smoke and heat but it brings back memories of the BC fire season of the last few years.

My Olympus collection: This was shot with an E-M10 i and the 14-42 kit lens; it's noticeably less sharp around the edges of the photo. All of this equipment gets used when a) it's not horrible weather, and b) when I'm not buried in work - this has been an extremely busy year for my business...

    Architectural Detail

@Matero, it's not difficult to do what I described - it's simply a matter of doing a professional, Code compliant and tidy looking job. Wires poking out of the ends of conduit and stapled to the exterior wall is really sloppy workmanship.
  19. Graham Moore

    Architectural Detail

Nice photo but jackleg electrical work; the 'electrician' should have run the conduit into a weatherproof enclosure and used conduit down the wall and bent to attach to the conduit on the fixture. (I know, I'm picky...)

    That “Clinical” Look

I bought a used Olympus 17mm f1.8 so I'd have a compact, fast lens in my collection for not too much cash outlay. I like the output quite a bit, though it's far from my most used lens. Twilight's Last Gleaming by Graham Moore, on Flickr

    Personal gear review

I'd call Roger Cicala at Lens Rentals and have him build a couple of cameras for me. He and his team are obviously talented, given they have designed and built a huge fisheye lens and have serviced many thousands of lenses plus probably more than a few camera bodies.

    How's weather at your place?

Sunny and high of 25C today with 81% humidity. It was hotter yesterday. I know these temperatures are considered mild when compared to the brutal heat many of you are suffering through, but it's tough in an area where most homes and vehicles don't have air conditioning and rarely need it.

Yesterday in downtown Vancouver was about perfect - 19-23C (low 70s F), 45-50% humidity, occasional light breeze and sunny. Today will be similar. This is why we put up with the rain at other times.

The principles are the same for firearms and telephoto lenses. The angle of view is so narrow with a long telephoto lens that it's almost impossible to acquire and track fast moving birds or aircraft looking through the viewfinder. The dot sight has 1:1 magnification so you can look outside...
