Hi everyone, sorry my first post in a long time is an advert for a sale - I'll write an update post soon and let you all know about an exciting move... in the mean time:
I've just caught the E-M5 bug (blame luckypenguin ;-) )... so am raising funds for a purchase
Panasonic G3 and...
Here's a brief update on my life
I'm sorry, this is loooooooong over due!
Time sure has flown by, and some how or another it's already Feb 2012 - it felt like just yesterday since I graduated in July 2011 lol.
When I graduated last July I thought I'd finally have more...
Reading Amin's thread about 'What gear do you regret selling?' made me ask the question:
'What's your favourite camera of all time?'
You don't have to have owned it but you must have used it.
It could be a camera and a particular lens combo, as opposed to a camera with just a fixed lens...
Just saw this over at Photorumors:
Fuji mirrorless camera leaked | Photo Rumors
Looks like a prototype or something in production to me...
I'm hoping it'll be full frame (even though this means larger) and relatively affordable...
Just thought it would be nice to start a thread of 'photography related Christmas gift suggestions', as the festive period is just around the corner :-)
Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for any GAS occurances as a result of this thread
Edit: I've just thought:
Everyone I know has been asking if I've started my Xmas shopping yet or what am I getting for Christmas, and to be honest I've not even thought of either yet lol
So just out of interest, what do you want for Christmas this year? Photography related or not, please share :-)
Hi everyone, I'm currently strongly considering selling the K5 and all my Pentax kit and would just like a little input because I know others on these forums have also sold their K5's (or dslr), I'd love to hear why you sold your K5 (or dslr) if you were one of those who sold theres, or maybe...
I don't know if anyone else gets these, but occasionally I go through the odd dry spell and 'off photography period', but I usually get right back in after a week or two and start pumping photos out left, right and centre.
But this time I'm getting really worried! Its been...
The Phoblographer's review of the GXR M Mount is up:
Review: Ricoh GXR with A12 Leica M Mount Module at The Phoblographer
I like his honest writing style and found the review very informative.
The camera's IQ seems very good, very clean with lots of detail at ISO3200 which is the max...
Just saw this a moment ago, a very interesting (IMO) video showing the making of the micro Four-Thirds Nokton f/0.95.
Personally, I was surprised to see so much manual labour, I thought Cosina production would be more automised (therefore allowing them to produce lenses cheaper).
I've decided to move back to micro four thirds after a long spell with my Pentax gear, because I'm fed up of missing photo opportunities from not having a camera on me and also I just want something small and light - everytime I use my canonet or LX5 I feel liberated.
So I just...
...according to 43 rumors there will be two fast zooms coming from Panasonic. They'll be part of the X premium series and have nano surface coating:
43 Rumors | Blog | Real images of the 12-35mm and 35-100mm fast X zooms.
What isn't clear is just how fast the lenses will be. Olympus has...
Just saw this and though it would be a useful post, just in case *touch wood* the worst happens and your gear gets stolen:
(Quick summary: Photographer got D3 and kit worth more than $9000 stolen, and was recovered by using GadgetTrak which matches the serial number provided to...
Hi guys, thought I'd share this link from Pentax Japan:
What do you all think?
The colours are consistent with their DSLR's kind of realistic and slightly film like.
Low ISO's were used so I guess you can't judge ISO performance...
Hi guys, just came across a new entry over at Ricoh's GR blog, which shows:
The lens Checker
In camera lens corrections: Vignetting, distortion and colour casting
Focus aids: peaking/contrast method, magnified view
Lens setting saving/loading
Mentions that the shutter can be closed between lens...
I know we have quite a few members from the UK, like myself, so I just wanted to wish everyone safety and to take care if you're visiting any of the major cities - due to the major rioting, violence and looting.
I didn't realise it was so bad until today. Saw this and it looks...
Hi everyone, sorry this is looooooong over due - as are a few hundred more photo uploads and edits.
But I've had a busy few months with assignments, exams, graduation and celebrations... and now job hunting!
So anyway on the 24.05.11, it was Gary Neville's Testimonial match - aka Manchester...
Some of you may recall that a while ago I asked the question "what is street photography?" (see here https://www.photographerslounge.org/f14/what-street-photography-video-discussion-2115/?highlight=street)
After taking into consideration the discussion from the above thread, I...
I'm back - completely finished with my exams and assigments at university... forever! Graduation two months away :D
So anyway here's what I really wanted to say:
The past few weeks I've been doing a lot of thinking, partly due to my exams, but also because of my...
Saw this from DigitalRev in another one of my breaks from my studies, and for once I think Kai has everything spot on.
<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/J3Hm5LTi40k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Do you agree or...
Just saw this on 'one' of my breaks from my "revision" and thought I'd share. I originally saw this on Yahoo news and was blown away by it (though I guess there's a lot of editing in one way or other there).
"The Mountain" by Terjes Sorgjerd"
Just before I describe everything I'd like to mention that i have feed back at mu-43 selling a few lenses and a camera, see here: vincechu
If there's any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Note that the prices are in GBP (pounds sterling), so may seem steep to those not in the UK...
withdrawn - cameras on loan to my mum who might 'buy' it off me. This way i'll also be able to use it some times, so win win :)
Up for sale is my mint condition Panasonic LX5 and also mint condtion official Panasonic LX5 ever-ready case (DMW-CLX5-K), both are in black. The...
Firstly, apologies I've not been active that much the past week... due to my favourite things... essays and revision
Anyway, I'd like everyone's thoughts on me getting a GXR to 'rationalise' my kit and hopefully save a little money. I also see the GXR as a lightweight and...
Hi everyone, its been a while since I last posted images here - I've been a combination of busy with work, busy with university studies and just out-right lazy
As some of you may know I bought the Pentax K5 at the start of the year and have been enjoying it very very very very... very...
Hey everyone, I was just uploading a few photos to Facebook and noticed this in Facebooks T&C's (see bold point 2.1):
Its making me think twice about uploading my fav snaps to FB - i'll probably link to flickr instead.
Off topic: if anyone's interested I did a serious upload of 100+ pics...
Hi everyone, after a few weeks of not editing and uploading photos due to assignments at university and immense laziness in general, I decided to get editing and uploading and have quite a lot to share.
However I've reached flickrs limit (for free accounts) of 200 photos before you can only...
Just wondered it anyone has used or is using a small DSLR for street photography.
I'm currently trying to get into street and candid photography and have a LX5 and K5.
With the LX5 I feel much more confident with taking street photos, especially with all the paranoia surrounding terrorisim...
Edit: I just thought it would be great to invite everyone to share stories too, so share away
Hi everyone, just saw this on youtube and immediately thought to share it here:
It's called "Found: Lost Pictures of New York Blizzard" by Todd Bieber (no relation to Justin Bieber!)...
Hope I'm not repeating old news:
Apparently Pentax is working on 2 mirrorless systems:
1st one will be the NC-1 camera with a small sensor 1/2.33" sensor, a bit retro in style being modeled on the Pentax 110 camera, with interchangeable lenses.
2nd will be an APS-C size...
Guess the title says it all.
Having sold all my m4/3rds stuff and bought into pentax I don't really visit this site much, though I still have my LX5. I have to admit in the last few months I've not been here much as I've mainly been around numerous forums more geared towards pentax but non...
Further price reductions - although I'm now begining to think I might keep/trade in the gear, I'll keep everyone informed should either of those 2 happen.
LX5 for £260
Everything for £290
Sorry i've not been posting much - been really busy the last few months with my...
*In the process of completely rewriting and tidying up my review, as well as adding a few more photos - check back later *
Hey everyone, I know a lot of people are interested in the LX5 and I just thought I'd share my thoughts about itin an on going real-life review. I'm going to do this...
I bought an LX5 yesterday and noticed that when pointed at any lightbulbs I get vertical banding or pink strips (sometimes green or black) appearing on the screen. This doesnt appear after a photos taken on the final photo, but it does appear in videos, it also appears when...
