I think the strategy of shooting EI 200 is to lift shadows and the dark areas with a hint of detail away from the tow of the curve, allowing the highlights to take care of themselves. However, using an incident lightmeter I'm getting good results at ISO400.

Right, sounds like FPGA territory with uncommitted gates and functional blocks to be reconfigured by typists. I was in the mindset of software running on predetermined hardware.

In terms of running a business, I don't think it would make sense expending engineering effort changing the processing engine, or altering the clock speed. Just a tweak or two to the firmware, and some button reassignment.

I like the effect of a fast lens too, but thought I'd start with a 35 f2 due to the generous DoF. It's demoralising seeing Thorsten Overgaard using the 50 f0.95 and acquiring focus, and spot on too. However when you see videos of him shooting, he seems to use an EVF a fair bit. That's cheating...

I'm now parking the lens at infinity after each shot and focus as fast as possible thereafter, if I go a bit too far I don't play around too much, relying on medium f to compensate (medium meaning f5.6 or so). But I recognise that I need to practise like there's no tomorrow!
