Canon M5 coming soon - specs look promising!

Or you could replace 11-22 with adapted 11-18 STM, which is supposedly slightly better optically and also fairly small and light. I'd also replace 50/1.8 with either EF-S 60mm macro or Tamron 60/2 macro for added versatility. Really, this could be an ideal system for people like me who don't...

Canon M5 coming soon - specs look promising!

Dual-Pixel CMOS AF is simply the best hybrid AF implementation right now. I suspect this will seriously disrupt the mirrorless market. Canon is already #2 in worldwide mirrorless sales, I guess they will be #1 by the end of 2017.

Canon M5 coming soon - specs look promising!

Certainly looks very similar to Powershot G5 X. Probably close in size to the OM-D E-M10, but with a much better grip.

Nikon Nikon shuts down Nikon 1 System

In terms of dynamic range the V1 was actually better than Panasonic G3/GX1/GF6 and on par with the GH2. In my opinion, very respectable result for such a small sensor.

Nikon Nikon shuts down Nikon 1 System

I'm pretty sad to see the Nikon 1 system gone — I have owned the V1 and I think it's a terrific piece of gear. The only thing that prevented me from investing more into the system was that Nikon's commitment to it seemed questionable at best. The thing I liked the most about it was that it was...

Samsung True. Samsung NX Camera's are finished.

It's not the first time Samsung left their customers out in the cold. That's the reason I will never buy another Samsung product again. (Although the Samsung vacuum I have is rather good.)

    Nikon Nikon DL series

I think the first two are VERY interesting. 18mm-e on a 1-inch sensor? I'll take two!! On the other hand, the 24-85mm one could be the only camera for many people, including me.

Sony My wife went to New York

Your wife definitely has an eye for photography! My wife is not interested in photography, but every time she picks up a camera she takes some beautiful shots. It's a natural talent and I feel a bit jealous sometimes.

    Remembering Sony Cyber-shot R1

Sony DSC-R1 is an undeservedly forgotten camera. When it was announced, it was met with a healthy dose of skepticism, but also with much excitement. After all, it was something completely new. It was the first camera to use a "DSLR-sized" sensor which was not a DSLR. It was the first camera...

Adobe Creative Cloud Bug With Mac

Affinity (makers of a very good photo editing application for Mac) promises to release a digital asset management app this year. If it's any good, I'm going to leave Adobe for good. I'm fed up with their bugs and with their billing not working properly with PayPal.

    Fuji Ultra-fast or ultra small?

I think the current 18mm f/2.0 lens is way better than its reputation. It's also very small. I like it as it is. But a hypothetical 70mm f/2.8 compact prime? I'd buy that in a heartbeat, especially if it's $500 or less.

    Sigma Sigma SD shots

These shots are awesome. I see them and I want to buy a Foveon camera. I remember when SD1 just came out and was still priced at $7k, I went on vacation to Istanbul and on top of Galata tower I met a Japanese guy shooting with two of them (one with Sigma 8-16 and another one with 50-150). I...

Fuji New firmware for Fuji X-E2

I have installed the new firmware. I must say it's very comprehensive. In fact, it's so comprehensive that I have to relearn how to use the camera. Even the live view screens look different. The flagship features of the update are, of course, improved AF performance and electronic shutter. I...

Have you ever been surprised by a camera?

Given how much I like my film Canons, I was pretty sure I would like Fujifilm's control scheme. As it turns out, I prefer modal control wheels to using separate and hard-coded aperture ring and shutter dial. Go figure.

    Best 85mm solution

That said, Samsung NX 85/1.4 is no slouch either, essentially if you get a good copy of the lens. It's not terribly sharp at any aperture, but I think it's sufficiently sharp at f/2 and beyond. I also like its bokeh much better than that of Fujifilm 56/1.2. Fujifilm just makes the background...
