    Micro 4/3 Lens recommendations, please

Rangefinder or SLR is one question when considering the E-M10.2 vs the GX85 (GX80 and GX7 II in other parts of the world). They are different systems and yes the EVF is better on the Olympus. But they both have advantages. But you can easily put together a capable small system with either...

    Personal gear review

Let me clear up a few things here. The versions of Panasonic OIS were Mega and Power, they did not refer to whether the lens had a power zoom option. To the best of my knowledge there have been only two Panasonic lenses with "Power" zooms, the 14-42 and 45-175 PZ. All others are manual zoom...

"Let´s play! Show your processing experiments"

I took a professional photography certification program back in 2005 (2005 - 2007). One of the classes was to take a series of images to depict the senses. Here are the 5 original images and with extras that I turned into a story sketch. He had a lot of fun helping and that's his hand pointing.

Do all men have financial advisors for wives?

My wife and I have actually had joint accounts since we started living together a little over 34 years ago. But as far as spending goes we like to say: "She's cheap, but not easy. I'm easy, but I'm not cheap." I often have to make her spend money on things she needs. Sometimes it's a...

GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

Yes the KeyMission series seems particularly stupid to me, dud Nikon even have anything in the Action Cam market before? Personally the 24-85 and 25-500 really seemed like "Why Bother" and only made sense in a way to help spread out development costs. Those also would have been up against...

GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

Same here with the range. I had a coupe versions of the Nikon 24-120s and the older 28-105. I considered getting the PanLeica trio, but decided on the PL8-18 and Oly 12-100 Pro. Think I'm going to be really tempted to trade my PL for the up coming 8-25 Pro if they can keep the size down, it's...

Am I the only one that does this?

This is also one of the reasons I REALLY like programming. Spell a variable wrong it doesn't matter as long as you spell it wrong all the time. If not or it's a procedural/reserved word the compiler will let you know.

Am I the only one that does this?

It's a VERY ANNOYING trend in the business world. And the current state of things with MS Teams, Slack, etc has only made things worse.

Am I the only one that does this?

I am SO tempted to edit this just for fun, but..... I really only edit my own words. (other than if a post needs to be "moderated", which is actually pretty rare here).

Am I the only one that does this?

And a little side benefit of being a mod is I can edit my posts even when quoted. :cautious:

    Brand dislikes..

Agree on Nikon and Olympus, for me there are a lot of similarities in how they handle for me. There are things I like about Fuji, but other than "very briefly" owning an X-M1, I skipped other early X bodies. I started looking at them shortly after I got into m4/3, the m4/3 stuff just felt...

    Brand dislikes..

Have to agree with @agentlossing about early Fuji bodies feeling a bit light and hollow. It was the same with early Canon Rebel DSLRs. It's the main reason my first real SLR/DSLR was the D70, it just felt solid by comparison. Maybe that's why Classic Chrome is the only film simulation I...

I have the 14mm, 15mm, 20mm, and 25mm (PLv1). The 14mm and 20mm are my "really small bag" kit with my Pen F. I actually bought a thinner lens cap for the 20mm so the combo would fit in my National Geographic NG 1153. A manual zoom LX100 with the on/off tied to the lens like the X#0 series...

Micro 4/3 Which OMD for you?

The E-M5.3 is much more a smaller E-M1.2 than a seal Pen F. The Pen F is more a non sealed E-M5.2 with a 20mp pixel sensor. When you say the E-M1.2 feels faster are you saying faster than the E-M5.3 felt or faster than your Pen F feels? The AF system in the E-M5.3 is closely related to...

Micro 4/3 Which OMD for you?

If I were buying just one and only having one camera I would probably opt for the E-M5.3 since I also value compactness and only have a couple bigger lenses. If on the other hand I had either a bigger or smaller other body that would impact my decision. Great grip and great battery (for a...

Retrospective 7 II or Wotancraft Pilot 7L

I did keep the Think Tank Speed Changer V2.0. At 0.6 its just so light it was hard to get rid of it. I also kept the Domke F-9, but that's a tall / smaller bag that is tall enough to hold the E-M1.2 with the 12-100 or 70-300 mounted.

Retrospective 7 II or Wotancraft Pilot 7L

OK, the Retro 7M is here. I do wish the seller had included the original package, paperwork, and tags attached. But it does seem unused. There was another one in Texas that would have been a little less, but I've had VERY bad experiences with the USPS in Texas recently so..... I do like the...

Retrospective 7 II or Wotancraft Pilot 7L

@MoonMind, @Bobby Tingle, @mnhoj So the plot thickens. According to Think Tank the 7M was in fact a special B&H version. I was waiting for more information from B&H that does not seem to have come (or I missed it and deleted it out my junk email). It does still have the tuck away...

OK so I'm a little OCD, I admit it. But after years of looking for "the perfect bag" I started keeping a spreadsheet of sizes so I figure out if the new bag was bigger/smaller than x bag I had. I currently have 7 bags; two aren't really used as camera bags: Domke J-810, I use it as a travel...

Retrospective 7 II or Wotancraft Pilot 7L

Yes I hate those "it will fit a 70-200* -- *unmounted" I owned a Retro 5 vI a while back. Weight of the 7 is one of the things that's making me hesitate. The Pilot is 0.75lbs / 0.5kg lighter. @Bobby Tingle I've been tempted to get the Retro 4, but I already have the Bowery and a Think Tank...

Retrospective 7 II or Wotancraft Pilot 7L

One thing I like about bags like the Retro (and others) is the Velco PLUS the secure zipper / buckle closure. The Pilot doesn't have a two stage closure, the Trooper does. it also takes about a month to get bags from Wotancraft. It probably makes a lot more sense to get the Retro. I had...

Retrospective 7 II or Wotancraft Pilot 7L

I had a Trooper medium at one point, but it was way too big and I sold it. It was way too big. The Pilot seems to have a larger opening than Trooper small. another reason the Retro is appealing.

Retrospective 7 II or Wotancraft Pilot 7L

Quick question for anyone that has used either. Think Tank Retrospective 7 II or Wotancraft Pilot 7L? I want to carry the E-M1.2 + O12-100 + O75-300 + PL8-18 I'd actually like something a little smaller, but I don't thinks these will fit in a Retrospective 5. They would probably fit in the...

    Fuji Fuji XF70-300 4-5.6

If I were still in the Fuji camp I would be interested. It does fill a hole most systems have options to fill, there's a big gap between the 50-230mm and 100-400mm. I could see an X100v as a weather sealed option (and filling the small carry camera) paired with the X-S10 + 10-24 / 16-80 /...

Single In Single in January (SiJ) 2021: discussion

So on to what did I learn with this Si challenge? COVID and my new work schedule made this infinitely more challenging than last January's Vision 2020 challenge. For me the schedule had the larger impact. I also have to say shooting the 12-45 on my E-M1.2 has had me thinking whether or not I...
