I still have a little Olympus E-PL1. Very compact m4/3 camera. I ordered a used Oly 17/2.8 pancake lens from ebay and found a used VF-2 at B&H so I ordered that too. I'll just put them all together as if it were a fixed lens camera that I can keep in the truck as a need a camera NOW kind of package.

Prime - the 17/2.8 Oly. Small and compact, fast enough and cheap. A very distinctive look as well.

Canon Rangefinder 35mm f1.5 Wide Angle Lens is Highly Radioactive

I'd wonder if it was used by the military or a photojournalist at one of the nuclear test sites? Getting dosed that way might still leave residual radiation while not having the thorium glass.

Picked up a Jupiter 12 that is supposed to have been adjusted to LTM standard. I emailed the fellow on ebay selling it and his description of what he did sounds right (based on things BrianS has said) so I bought it. Even if it doesn't work exactly, it was cheap enough and came with a 35 ltm ->...

I've hated the Adobe subscription with a passion. So what did I do? I subscribed to "Capture One" instead. Good software though.

    Leica Showcase 7Artisans 35mm f/2

Thread necromancy, but ... Do you still have this lens? If so, how has it held up for you over time both in image and in build? I'm pondering getting a Voigtlander 35/2.8 LTM or older Canon 35/2.8 and recently became aware of this lens. It seems like it might be an interesting one to get instead.

    Brand dislikes..

Hmm. My only really major brand dislike has nothing to do with photography. Rather I have found over the years that I really don't like Colt revolvers but far prefer those made by Smith & Wesson. Silly details but that's how much of this is. In this case I don't like the spring used for the...

    Leica Scratched Sensor Glass?

Later this year I hope to buy a Leica M digital. As a result, I keep an eye on auctions just to have a good idea of what is out there and what the prices are looking like. I saw an auction on ebay for a M Monochrome for much lower than usual. This was due to these scratches on the glass...

Well, a few minutes ago I won an Eprey auction for a Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.5 Lens for LTM w/M Adapter. It's the chrome version and will be a very nice lens. Short term, I'll use it on my Olympus E-PL1 but longer term I am waiting on an inheritance to arrive and then I plan to buy a Leica...

    Updated Personal Website

No lightbox, alas. And apparently just all light or all dark - I'll have to see if they have suggestions link as I believe the Portfolio option is new there. I've decided to try the light look and dropped the "Portfolio" bit from them as well. Thanks!

    Updated Personal Website

One of the reasons to go to a portfolio format is to force me to be better about editing down to a good number. I remembered that the portfolios of Ansel Adams I bought ages ago had about 16 prints per portfolio so for this ~20 seemed a good number to me. Thank you for the comment!

    Updated Personal Website

I'm using the portfolio option at 500px and have, essentially, a first draft finished consisting of black and white landscapes and a quadriptych of seasons. I'm thinking about how to do one of color landscapes and perhaps one of abandoned barns (all usual subjects for me). I you could take a...

Single In Single in January (SiJ) 2021 - day 31

So I get up after having worked last night and as I'm puttering around there's this loud racket and cat fight sounds in the back room. Except I only have one cat. I go back there and she's on the spare bed grooming and I'm like "wtf, Furball?" "Well, Hoooman, there was this other Kat outside and...

Single In Single in January (SiJ) 2021: discussion

I was like that for a long time. Go look up my posts at Rangefinder Forum - I may have changed cameras more often than socks some weeks ;) Then I had m4/3 from 2011 to 2019 with a E-PL1 and a P3 during that time. Now I've changed to Nikon but I intend to stick with it. The only changes I...

Single In Single in January (SiJ) 2021: discussion

It's been good to do the single in this month. I needed the push to get carrying the camera every day and the discipline of the single lens was good for getting to really know that 45/2.8 AI-P lens. Hopefully a couple of the shots have been worth everyone's time. That said, I think next month...

Gloomy grey late winter afternoon. This abandoned house is one of my "usual subjects" but it seemed even more cold and lonely today than that usual. A light sepia tone seemed appropriate as a result.

Feeling Bleah today, mostly just tired from a very long week last week (Monday and Tuesday are my weekend. The joy of an innkeepers week.).
