    Personal gear review

As I said elsewhere on the forum, based on these design issues with the GRIII, I'd really reccommend that the the new model is held in the hand and checked over before taking home.

    Leica 50mm woes

Well I seem to have lucked out on this Canon LTM F1.2, the worry when buying used off the internet is always the condition of the lens, despite what the seller says, plus realignment etc. But this is all that I hoped it would be, classical rendering and bokeh out of the box (well subjectively...

Stroll Seen while strolling...walking and wandering outside

Probably due to it being a warm cloudless clear blue sky day. I think it was the case that back in the day those conditions would put one off taking pictures or at least wait till ‘golden hour’ to get some colours/ tones but these days modern cameras handle blues and reds very well in mono.

    Leica 50mm woes

The Canon 50mm F1.2 LTM and LTM to M adapters arrived today, so I took a first random shot wide open, no editing other than straight conversion to B&W. Wow, I'm glad I followed @BrianS 's advice, this certainly provides me with characteristics I didn't have in my other lenses.

    Color Cars I can't afford

I was told once that "you own a Mercedes but a BMW owns you". I reckon this model falls into the latter category, not necessarily the costs of the model but the costs of continually servicing it year after year.

    Ricoh Surprise! Ricoh GRIIIx

Based on my experience with the III, I’d recommend you all preorder it from a camera store and have it in your hand first before taking it home. Make sure those buttons are on correctly. Lots of us were so excited to get the III we were prepared to overlook the rear dial issue, including me. It...

    Leica 50mm woes

I did. Canon 50mm F1.2 LTM on its way to me by the weekend. Condition isn't good externally, there's a scratch or two on the front element and the aperture blades were those apparently inappropriately greased by Canon when the lens was released many years ago. But I'm told this has no effect...

    Gear Porn

On Pentaxforums.com (a great site for all things Pentax btw), I saw user reviews from as far back as 2009 describing their beloved K200D’s as having “slow AF” and being a bit “dated”, even then, which sort of made the camera appeal to me even more(!) Certainly didn’t put off the users and you...

I’d be interested to see how you get on with the Canon Brian. There’s one going for a giveaway price at the minute which I haven’t succumbed to as like most of us I have enough 50s atm (well maybe…). And on the on the other side of the coin, I went into a camera store today to look at their used...

    Micro 4/3 Micro 4/3 samples

From my previous experience, I'd say you can crop with confidence. Lenses are often split between what are our favourites and what are our best. The 75 was always the best, so cropping was never an issue with me.

Some snaps from the old Folkestone Harbour railway station in Kent, UK, closed a while back but gentrified and used as part of an extremely pretty walkway these days. The Orient Express used to stop there apparently before passengers embarked on the connecting ferry to France.

GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

Have you used the latest Voigt 35mm F1.2 III Matt? From what I've seen, the rendering from that lens looks stunning, dare I say it better than any native mordern/ current Leica lens at that focal length. Just wondering if that and the Lanthar are one and the same in that respect.

    Canon Canon R3, Anyone?

Just thinking aloud, but, apart from the cost perhaps it's 1) that we're all so invested in our current gear and 2) the Canon R gear perhaps being perceived like unappealing black blobs of plastic. It's the only thing I can think of because to my mind, the top line R products seem to be the...

    Which car?

As well as the (unfortunate) history of the car, I think it was the fact that it was being driven around as an everyday vehicle (ie, being used to pop out to the supermarket) that got my attention. Now that I hadn't seen before.
