    Street Street photography (Image thread)

I was a bit naughty the other day and momentarily pushed the SIO challenge to one side for the London Marathon. Got some pictures with the DSLR and 85mm lens capturing the runners which I was pleased with, but it's always the little camera that captures the moments.

It wouldn't be at all funny if an announcer or music all of a sudden started blaring out of that speaker right where they're sitting would it.

I think the image shows the furthest away person being just a little bit too far away for it to be a triangle. This could have been achieved with a longer/ telephoto focal length/ if you were closer/ if focus was on the furthest away person, which is all of course easier said than done when you...

Stroll Seen while strolling...walking and wandering outside

Probably due to it being a warm cloudless clear blue sky day. I think it was the case that back in the day those conditions would put one off taking pictures or at least wait till ‘golden hour’ to get some colours/ tones but these days modern cameras handle blues and reds very well in mono.

    Street Street photography (Image thread)

People by the UK seaside. All shots pre-focused/ snap focused. Regardless of the absolute accuracy and quality of focusing and composition, images shot using that technique with a wide enough lens do tend to exactly capture what is happening before you that very second regardless of whether...

I believe the look of that image is what people on Leica forums refer to as “glow” and as you prove, certainly not limited to those lenses/ cameras.

    Documentary Lockdown

More grimness from inside and outside. Apart from the last image below, which shows my key to escaping here which I will be doing tomorrow. Without that, I would have been facing a further 10 days in here. You can imagine the rising anxiety in the period between taking the second test and...

    Documentary Lockdown

Thanks Richard, that’s a “guard”, whether it’s outside your room or out and about in the car park whilst you’re let out for your daily exercise, there’s about six of them to every inmate. I reckon someone’s previously done a runner!

    Documentary Lockdown

Flew back from Sydney to my mother country the United Kingdom last Thursday. Australia is considered a 'Green' country for quarantine purposes, however as the plane went through Doha, a 'Red' country, I've been sent to quarantine in a hotel down the road from Heathrow airport. I really...

The coffee shop today, an extremely popular place in times of lockdown. Taken applying the pre focusing technique on the rangefinder. Some you get, some you don't and perfect a minority of the time, but I can see how this method would have been popular before those little 28mm compact cameras...

    Street Street photography (Image thread)

Thanks Andrew, most people are instinctively anxious or don't like having to go in close with a relatively wide angle camera which is difficult to overcome. But if you do overcome that, the results speak for themselves. As I've said before that camera is so small and quick, the subjects won't...
