That's cool, are the photos part of the prescribed sequence (do they serve as the prompts for current work) or just examples of a sequence that you took once upon a time?

The GR Official Blog has good, informative articles and quite a few really good images. This recent entry was particularly good: Saul Leiter Style Challenge (ARA) | GR official | RICOH official community site It's on using a GR IIIx to emulate the color work of Saul Leiter. Really cool results...

Geez, Miguel, thanks for those words, all I can say is the GR cameras more than almost any other camera I've ever used make me want to "find" something - not quite sure what it is yet, but I really like that about them. The 40mm has been both challenging and familiar, I am both trained (via the...

Yep, I've got that one. A bit heavy but one of the most solid and dependable (and accurate!) I've ever used. Anyway, and since I'm feeling a bit guilty prolonging the discussion on such non-forum gear topics, I just ordered an Intel Core i5 10400f processor to replace my aged i5 6600k. Despite...

.22s are a lot of fun. I bought a Beretta 21a Inox about a year ago, it has been a hoot breaking it in (they seem to need a lot of breaking in). Beretta engineering is pretty impressive on that model, and I like how the styling has some M9 cues, or a traditional Beretta look I guess.

American Photographs and The Americans are two of the best photobooks out there, and inexpensive! I highly recommend both of them. To be honest I haven't followed the later work of either Evans or Frank, I kind of suspect that they're both artists who struck gold with these works and sort of...

Challenge! Cameraderie Challenge #52 - "Consumerism" WINNER ANNOUNCED

I just put Uncommon Places on my Christmas wish list for the wife... Stephen Shore to me is part of that continuum that I sort of see between Eugene Atget -> Walker Evans -> Robert Frank -> Stephen Shore. The sort of "straight" photography where the photographer mostly gets out of the way and...

I like that book! My only wish would be for the photos to be bigger, but there are quite a lot of them, and there is definitely a variety of interest in what's displayed. But as a very considered set of snapshots it's really interesting.

Advice Wanted Suggestions for compact everyday carry camera?

Not that weather resistant, but the Panasonic LX100 mark ii was a very nice camera when I briefly used it. I could have seen myself bonding with it if it weren't for the (even less resistant to the elements) GR III.

I got this idea, well, mainly from shooting inside an Ikea today. You know that vague unease of, not the drug-addled "high tech, low life" dystopia of William Gibson and the cyberpunk crowd (though I love that aesthetic), but the sort of urban/suburban, pedestrian, everyday quiet existential...

    Film new to film

I wouldn't vary ISO unless you really know the film and how you expect it to be processed. If you bought HP5, it's a pretty versatile film and can be processed with a pretty wide range of variance (this is called pushing and pulling film), but the problem is you have to process the whole roll...

    Personal gear review

In my experience, after being spoiled by M4/3 size of lenses and bodies, I find big cameras just too hard to stick with. The heft and size of something which is big enough to require a strap is hard to get used to swinging and bumping around at your side. Maybe identify if it's truly the size...
