Leica Looking back at a trip last year...

Some images from Cartagena, Colombia. these were taken the M240 and the VC 40mm f1.2 and VC 21mm f1.7. I set the lens selection manually because the M240 does not recognize the 6 bit coding of some lenses.

    Leica Please advise.

Thanks everyone. I read in one of the internet articles that "you probably won't have any problems with electric devices other than hair driers and such". I just wanted to make sure, and as Richard says, I see that the voltage specified in the chargers does include the Japan specifications...

    Leica Please advise.

Hi, my trip to Japan is coming up soon and I just realize that I had not thought about the voltage, frequency, plugs, etc. Anyway, I'll be in Tokyo which I think uses 50hz 100v current and the plugs resemble the ones here in the US. My question is, will it be safe to use my phone charger and my...

Leica Advise, opinions... Which lenses to take to Tokyo?

The 21mm f1.8 Voigtlander is really a brilliant lens. The 40mm f1.2 is also excellent and the 15mm is great for those close distance or to capture wide landscapes. I wish I had those same or similar lenses in the Leica brand, preferably Summilux, but I don't. The 50mm 'Lux is fabulous but I'm...

Leica Advise, opinions... Which lenses to take to Tokyo?

Thank you, this is quite useful. I was thinking the 50mm lenses might be too long. The CV 21mm f1.8 is really good. Perhaps I should take the 3 Voigtlander lenses, 40mm f1.2, 21mm f1.8 and the 15mm f4.5. Probably throw the Q in there for the convenience of AF, IS, etc. Plus it's got a fast 28mm...

Leica Advise, opinions... Which lenses to take to Tokyo?

Which of the 50s ? Also, the 40 f1.2 is really a superb lens... I might go with the CV lenses, the only thing I don't like about them is that I need to manually set the lens selection... I also have this 50mm 'Cron....

Leica Advise, opinions... Which lenses to take to Tokyo?

I'm going to Tokyo for my first time in about six weeks. Naturally I'm taking the M240 and possibly the Leica Q as well. Now, obviously I don't want to carry too much gear... I wonder which lenses to take. I like to shoot architecture, landscapes and also street photography. Here are some...

Leica Is anybody else out there wanting an M10?

Oh, I totally know that I want one... The fly in the ointment is that the funds needed for the purchase would be much more wisely used in other manners... And yet, I am very inclined to buy one. Perhaps I'll try to soften the blow by purchasing a used one...

Leica Is anybody else out there wanting an M10?

I don't know about recovering one color band... I also have a Nikon D60 with the APS-C sensor and on that one neither could blown highlights be recovered at least not in LR or ON1 software. Anyway, what would one color channel recovery do? I do remember trying to recover blown highlights and...

Leica Is anybody else out there wanting an M10?

I'm a bit confused about this.... Are people saying that the M10 is a defective or inferior camera because of blown highlights? I am no authority on this and have not shot with all the different cameras out there, but I have had a lot of experience with M43 Olympus cameras & lenses (several of...

Leica Is anybody else out there wanting an M10?

As a former M4/3 shooter I can understand your ideas. Like I posted earlier I was deep into the micro 4/3's world and owned a variety of Olympus and Panasonic bodies and lenses. I still have an m4/3 body and a couple of (make it several) lenses. I used to love shooting with them but once I went...

Leica Is anybody else out there wanting an M10?

I definitely understand the sentiments. The 240 is a fabulous camera and I thoroughly enjoy shooting with it. Frankly, it's easier for me to shoot it with fewer mistakes and throw-aways than shooting with my M43 cameras or even the Q... I'm not even going to talk about the Sigma DP2 Merrill...

Leica Is anybody else out there wanting an M10?

I can understand your reasoning. I too bought my 240 and the Q used at a great discount. Some of my lenses were also used (Summilux 50 f1.4 and several other ones). However, I can sell the 240 and the Q as well as a number of lenses I'm not using and put that money towards the M10. Fortunately I...

Leica Is anybody else out there wanting an M10?

I was in the M43 camp before Leica. Had EM-5, EP-5, EM-1 and a couple of Panasonic cameras as well. Oh yeah, had a lot of native and adapted lenses as well. I loved the M43 systems and took a lot of photos with them. But now I've Leica cameras and I'm not looking back :)

29 quotes by photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson

Sometimes, much later I find some of the culled ones to be quite superior to some I thought quite good. Still, the quote is quite spot on.

Leica Is anybody else out there wanting an M10?

I'm really wanting to pull the trigger on an M10. I love my M240 and I also like the Q, but I've been reading and watching you tube videos of the new M10 and I think it would be a super nice camera to shoot with. I like everything from the thinner form to the simpler menus, the physical ISO...

I used to have that lens as well. I agree that the bokeh is "busy". The latest CV offerings are quite a bit better in that and other respects.

Leica Lately I've been shooting with Voigtlander lenses

I took my M240 and 3 VC lenses to shoot for a real estate listing. I used the 40 f1.2 Nokton, the 21 f1.8 Ultron and the 15 f4.5 Super Wide Heliar. Can tell you which were shot with the 21mm or the 15mm because the camera can't recognize the lenses. However, you can guess by looking. All the...

I just noticed that in the last few weeks I've been keeping the VC 40mm f1.2 on the M240 and Carrying the VC21mm f1.8 in the bag... Actually they are brilliant lenses. Here is a sample in color and B&W (courtesy of the Nik plugin). This was taken handheld with the CV Ultron 21mm f1.8

Leica Showcase CV 40mm f1.2 images, first impressions

Thanks for the feedback. I forgot to mention, the first set of night shots I did use LR to recover the darks because I had to under expose the shots quite a bit to not blow up the highlights. So I decided (impulsively) to purchase this lens after sending back the 7 Artisans 50mm f1.1 I had ordered just a few days before. Leica Showcase 7Artisans 50mm F1.1 M-Mount lens

I recently ordered the 7 Artisans 50mm f1.1 lens. I had mixed results with it and although it was fun to use, specially in low light, I sent it back. My biggest concern was that I found it very soft in many shots. Particularly wide open (why would one stop down the lens?). Anyway, shooting...

Leica So I read about the 'new' Thambar-M 90mm lens and...

What I like about playing with the lenses is that one can combine a soft/somewhat sharp center with completely blurred background, and the flares from the lights are pretty cool too.. Of course, I play a little with some presets as well.

Interesting results for sure. The one thing I miss from the "adapted" lenses is the RF coupling. At one point I would have considered playing with lenses like you do. But now my condo is just not conducive to taking up these hobbies. Space is at a premium :)....

I'm not sure I quite understand. Are you suggesting a lens repair? What happens when you replace a multi element section with a single element lens? Sorry for the questions, but I'm not cognizant in these things. I've watched some YouTube videos, I think of "the angry photographer" where he...

Well yes, there are lots of nifty 50's out there and definitely the sharpness falls off rapidly as the aperture increases. Definitely they aren't Summilux 50mm f1.4 I have several old legacy lenses of various brands. With adapters they can be used with the M240 but they won't match decent...

Leica Interesting images shot with the Q

Here are some images captured with the M240/50mm Summilux M.Some were under very low light (restaurant at night), the others I've better light indoors and out. I do believe that the 50mm Summilux renders more flattering images than the 28mm FL. But it was much more challenging to use, mostly...

Leica Interesting images shot with the Q

They saw the first 38 or so shots I sent them and they are very happy with them. There were many more and not a few shot under very dim light. Leica Interesting images shot with the Q

I really wasn't sure about the Q.... I knew and saw that its a fine camera. Outstanding actually. However, I felt that the 28mm FL was not going to be as useful or versatile as a zoom or the M240 with 2 or 3 lenses. Anyway, I'm happy to report that the Q is an excellent, nearly all purpose...

I went to St Simons Island to shoot a weeding for a friend, I am so glad I chose to take the Leica Q along with the M240 and a couple of other cameras. Yes Carl, they are abandoned houses. A very interesting area. I was told that the entire area was populated by black people, presumably poor.. Leica Is it still a good idea to get M9 these days?

I don’t have experience with the M9 so I’ll leave that to those who know. However, I don’t understand the “banding issues” of the M240. I purchased mine used a few years ago and frankly I find no issue with banding.. it does appear but only in rare circumstances. I find it extremely useful and...
