News Ricoh Pentax to "Move Away from Mass Production?"

On a more serious note: I think Leica shows that their model is feasible. But it remains to be seen if there is space in the market for another boutique manufacturer selling at boutique prices. Will enough people pay for a $2500 safari green K-3iii, a $3500 K-1iii in titanium or $2000 for a...

News Ricoh Pentax to "Move Away from Mass Production?"

Like I said over on PentaxForums, it’s all my fault. I started with Olympus, now they are all but dead. I bought into Pentax, now they are ‘decreasing mass production.’ I’m a brand killer. :)

Been completely out of the loop for a while.

Olympus is dead, long live OM. Sony still has everyone by the sensors. Your xx year old camera still takes great images so there is still no need to worry about what Jared Polin, or the Northrup’s have to say.

That above image is displaying at ~1473x2200. At least it is for me. That is roughly 60% of the full image size.

Hmmm... Edit: That did seem to work. Also Amin had things set so that ALL images displayed to 1600px on the longest side (I think) no matter they original size.

Pentax Adapting lenses on a Pentax DSLRs

I think the Leica R glass does just a bit of the work in making images look nice. I lucked into a really good deal in getting three of my Leica R lenses. They aren't something I would probably go for otherwise.

Amin had someone write a script that pulled basic EXIF data to display for those of us that post Flickr links, instead of direct images. I liked that.

Pentax Adapting lenses on a Pentax DSLRs

I just realized that you were probably referring to the reputation of Leica glass, not the Leitax mounts. With regards to Leica R glass, I think it's a bit complicated. The lenses are very good lenses. They probably are comparable to top end glass from other major competitors, Nikon, Olympus...

Pentax Adapting lenses on a Pentax DSLRs

The Leitax mounts are solid pieces of machined metal. I don't have any issue with their quality. And David, the creator/seller, is outstanding to work with. He responds to questions/concerns usually very quickly. They are a bit pricy for a piece of machined metal, but I understand that they are...

Pentax Adapting lenses on a Pentax DSLRs

    I have my four Leica-R lenses with Leitax mounts, Elmarit-R 28 f/2.8, Summicron-R 50 f/2, Macro-Elmar-R 100 f/4 in both bellows and helicoid versions. And depending on your definition of adapting, I also use old m42 Super Takumars, 28 f/3.5, 50 f/1.4, 105 f/2.8.

    Animals Show Birds

I don't often venture into Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains, mainly because it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the most visited national park. However, there is a reason why it is popular, it affords the ability to see wildlife up close and personal. Here was a flock...

    Animals Curious Young Buck

The Great Smoky Mountains is the most visted national park in the US. But it is still a big place, full of wildlife. I have been hiking for 20 years in the park, and only a few times have I ever come across any of the large(ish) animals in the park. Once a bear, once some otters, a few times...

    Winter Fungus Portraits

A few days ago my son went for a walk in a local county park. He came back with several phone shots of mushrooms. It has been a warm winter so far, so the fungi have been taking advantage and coming out all over. It took me a few days, but I finally had some time to go out to the park...
