Maybe not the most inspiring picture to work on as we had only 10 entries from 6 participants.
But good job everyone!
An early decision in my judging was that B&W was not what I liked for this one, so that meant 6 down 4 to go.
(Despite my reputation as a B&W lover, not all pictures benefit...
Here is Digital Darkroom Derby #009, a digital image editing/processing challenge. The rules are here. Please read them.
Challenge ends on Thursday 20 January at 18:00 CET.
This was taken in Cisco UT, it looks like an abandoned place but the citizens claim it is not abandoned.
The files for...
Tried something new to me, the DxO Filmpack Time Machine, the 1900's, for a monochrome.
I am not sure I like it. Maybe if I got rid of the artifacts that is supposed to mimic the paper or whatever, it could be better, might try and get back and change the picture.
Thanks to all who participated, nice entries all around!
Well, 14 entries from 10 persons is not bad and few enough that judging went quickly.
A part of what I had in mind when choosing this picture is that it is the Black Canyon, so I have had a bias for B&W pictures this time.
The one thing I think the films lack is the slow pace in some places, it has been cut out to get the films into a short enough time.
I like to read the books and really enjoy the slow pace that there is some times, no adventures, just telling how it was to travel.
Your imagination has to work...
RAH, RAH, RAH!
Anyone talking about Sci-Fi and not mentioning Robert Anson Heinlein is obviously not a real fan!;)
Ok, not everyone will agree with me but I think he was a great writer.
Yes, it is books and not films, but books are better, they stimulate your fantasy.
With films and TV-shows...
I have heard that when you encounter men in sheets, be they white or black, you should look at their shoes to determine where they are from. This guy is probably a nice guy even if scary looking, his shoes are sensible. Scary would have been high black leather boots.

Thanks for the win!
B&W is underrated in my opinion.
I will try to find a picture and have the next derby up tonight if I can.
(Hard for me to find a picture to use as my photography seems to have dried up during the pandemic.)
I visited Las Vegas for one night in 2017, so I have some pictures from there to share.
I just started to go through and PP the pictures again to see if I could find a few "gems".
Could not find a Las Vegas dedicated thread so I decided to create one.
Post your Las Vegas pictures here!
Used the above and went to NIK Silver Efex 4 for a B&W with selective colour (used 3 control points to bring out the warm orange and 1 control point to handle spills over).
Maybe I should have used more control points on the outer door to control that spill over. I wanted to show the...
I am totally shameless and will show my entries even if others have beaten me to something!
I did not look at the earlier entries before I did my take.
DxO PL5 all the way, used my standard preset and lifted the red and orange channels in HSL.
Does that camera have the ability to use the battery in the grip first?
My G80 has that ability and that means that I can get virtually infinite battery time with enough batteries, as it will first use up the battery in the grip and then switch to the in camera battery so I can change the...
Have you considered getting a dummy battery with DC in for the GH3?
I found the above with a quick search, I have another make for my G80 and I think it was cheaper.
