Buried deep in ColdFusion at the moment

The group I'm in was originally a small IT shop for a subsidiary of a major telecom; I was a happy geek. The subsidiary was absorbed into the parent corporation. Last year nearly the entire team left in a voluntary separation leaving just two of us who have since absorbed all of the...

Buried deep in ColdFusion at the moment

No, not "cold fusion" as in the science holy grail, "ColdFusion" as in the Adobe web server. 🤓 Seems like these past couple of weeks I've been buried at all hours of the days working on stuff for the 'Day Job' instead of getting anything done online. Sure, it pays the bills (and Mrs. Kevin...

It's an interesting piece, thanks for the info'. :) Good to see that they reached out to the artist to recreate a stronger version of it instead of just taking down the original & leaving it that.

I have to admit, I have no idea what this is! Looks like maybe strings on the top & right attached to it so a balloon? Kite? UFO?

Pics of cats on the internet is a given! 😁. You could try combining the subjects with a series of cats in the midst of the remodeling. Cat with a hammer, cat looking at blueprints, cat looking at paint chips... 🐈

Changes to "Giveaway of the Day" Threads

I'm thinking we should go back to trying to filter the results; I've got an idea in my head at the moment to try & make the bot' a bit more intelligent in what it grabs, I'll work on it on the test site this week.

Changes to "Giveaway of the Day" Threads

[Feedback posts moved to this thread] @theoldsmithy What kind of filtering do you have in mind? Originally I was trying to filter the 'giveaway' type posts to be just photography or camera related but the initial feedback was that the misc. stuff might be interesting as well. Unfortunately...

Can I nominate one more exception? That if @theoldsmithy is up for participating that he be able to use any gear within his reach on any particular day. Being on crutches for a few weeks there might be days when different sized kit might be easier to handle at times.

    Hip surgery

😲 That must have been a bit unnerving. Compared to most US hospitals, that were apparently designed by the same people who designed coach class airplane sections with the aesthetics to match, then yes, yes that is a nice view & room. Is that a private room or shared?

    Feedback Incorrect Keyword Replacements

Hashtags would be #something like used on Twitter and Facebook. The software doesn't yet support being able to type something like #fuzzydog in a post and then having it automatically added as a tag (it's on my Wish List) but I suspect it'll happen eventually as so many people are used to that...

    Feedback Incorrect Keyword Replacements

Thanks, I was hoping nobody noticed that yet. It's a known issue that was reported to the vendor but I'll bump it up with them. The automatic keyword replacements is, unfortunately, a necessary evil in the fight with Google. Internal linking is ranked and the goal is to get some keywords...

That could make it more interesting in that you'd be challenging yourself to find creativity within confines. Might make for some nice opportunities for macro shots and shots from unusual perspectives. If nothing else, ever watch Hitchcock's Rear Window? :D

Changes to "Giveaway of the Day" Threads

Hhhhhm..... maybe I over thought it by trying to keep it on topic? Maybe take off the filter and let it fly into seperate threads (one for Android, one for iOS, one for desktop)? It'd be easy enough to do.

Changes to "Giveaway of the Day" Threads

Hey, Cameraderie Bot, you need to check your circuits a little bit better there, my friend, games aren't of interest. :P On a serious note, just items related to photography should be getting picked up automatically but some items are getting a hit on the word "camera" so they get...

Dell Financial Services (DFS) - Weird payment restrictions

The auto pay was working fine, they just wouldn't accept another payment within 10 days. The CSR was aware of what I was running into and was able to process the payment manually. Just seems weird that a company would restrict how often a payment can be made coming to them.

Dell Financial Services (DFS) - Weird payment restrictions

For the 'Bike Crew', do you guys use any apps when riding?

Unfortunately Google Fit and Fitbit don't play with each other. :( There are 3rd party apps that'll act as a man-in-the-middle to synch data but at this point Fitbits have become pretty ubiquitous in the circle of family & friends so I'd be reluctant to move off of that ecosystem since I don't...

Thanks for the info! Reading up on the apps, it looks like Strava indeed will be what I'm likely after, of tracking for personal use my activity, and it integrates directly with Fitbit so that's definitely a bonus. I'm at work today but I'll test out the integration later tonight when I go...

The North Face Replaces Wikipedia Photos to Advertise Products

The Requisite Cat (Kitty) Photo thread

If you were to ask a large sampling of my fellow countrymen about the climate in Aus', the image of kangaroos playing in snow would not be one of the answers you'd likely get. The North Face Replaces Wikipedia Photos to Advertise Products

I think the admittance on their part was a huge blunder with somebody in the marketing department thinking it'd be a good idea to show have savvy North Face is in an online world. To get the ball rolling I created a new 'Gear' forum and moved some of the obvious threads into it. If the activity picks up we can go ahead and create either a corresponding 'Galleries' or 'Showcase' forum. I started with the 'Gear' forum because, looking through the current threads, nearly...

Local grocery store now has robots patrolling the aisles

Yeah, I think we're more likely facing a "Wall-E" world versus "Terminator". Of course though the "Wall-E" world takes the chance of turning into a "Matrix" world where AI keeps humans dumb & happy in their own little VR while they're really in captivity. Of course it could be argued that...
