    SiJY 2019 Outtakes

This is not an outtake but my attempt to make the Day 20 photo more enjoyable to look as a 16:9 background, I was trying to make it more like looking through the window. The attached 3840x2160 PNG is 14.16MB, I won't insert it here but you can download manually. Turns out the server side...

    SiJy 2019 Day 20

Hi folks, post your chosen ones and have a great weekend. Here's mine, this is a place I've always wanted to photograph and I hope this time it works.

    SiJy 2019 Day 19

Hi folks, let's see your photos for Day 19. I'll start with mine, too tired today to be any more creative than this, a last minute snap.

    SiJY 2019 Outtakes

I'd say the 30mm shot was actually quite good even though the 50mm shot looks more like a traditional portrait. One thing I'd try with wider angle portraits is maybe a more confrontational look since they tend to feel more personal anyway. Nice work.

    SiJy 2019 Day 18

Hi folks, Day 18 thread here, I'll start with mine. This is my third attempt following the last two days, hope it's getting better. I learned the potato dish from a YouTube video last night, and it definitely doesn't taste any worse than the photo shows.

    SiJy 2019 Day 16

Hi folks hope you're all doing great. My challenge today has gone a little unexpected. Originally I shot something (boring) with the M50 and 32 prime that I'll share later in the outtakes thread, and then this video got my attention and had been my source of inspiration for my challenge today...

    SiJy 2019 Day 15

Hi folks, we have reached the 15th. It's been challenging for me but fun, let's see what you've got. Here's mine, it's been raining here today and I had nowhere to go, luckily my willing model insisted we take a few shots and after some tweaking, here's how it looks.

Sigma fp. No one saw that coming.

I love Sigma for doing crazy things, but I fear this may become another one that people love to see and hardly buy.

    SiJy 2019 Discussion

One thing I've learned seeing the photos, I've always been jealous of people who can work with a portable and high quality camera like the Coolpix A and Ricoh GR, but the reason I've been telling myself not to get into those fixed lens cameras is "they may look sexy but lack usefulness". Guess...

Fuji Showcase Fujifilm Astia Film Simulation

Good looking. Actually it was a big "woow" moment when I saw the top half of the first photo, and then I scrolled down and it started to look like the bright areas might be too bright, I guess I'm looking for more mid-tones. Still very very impressive.

[Solved] Desperately need help with Epson printer.

Sir thank you for the information. I just tried affinity photo and it does too. I shoot Canon and I'll try the printing software, I hope it supports generic jpg images as well. I have to say, I never expected such problematic driver from Epson, Canon did so much better.

    SiJy 2019 Day 14

Hi Folks, Day 14. Sorry I had to shoot today's photo with the camera that was available to me, my phone, however with the square mode I was shooting in it's a similar FOV to the standard prime I chose for the challenge. OK, enough excuses, here it is, edited with LR on Android.

[Solved] Desperately need help with Epson printer.

Solved! Turns out the Epson L805 is really nothing but a budget product, the solution is a forced installation of R330 driver and let PS do the colour management, and now I can sleep knowing I didn't throw away nearly 300 Dollars. With the R330 driver alone it behaves more reasonably than its...

    SiJY 2019 Outtakes

Thank you Barrie, I consider the one that 1, looks good, and 2, takes efforts to get worth being selected, and this one IMO is quite close, but the one in the Day 13 thread takes more luck to get and just looks more interesting to me.

Hi folks, another weekend has come, hope we all get good ones to show. Here's mine, I have a few others that I've worked on harder to get right however this one takes more luck to get, and also looks more interesting to me. I had to do some perspective correction which doesn't look too obvious...

Take Steve Huff for example, if you go to his website, there's an about me and some personal project pages shows other sides of him that you don't usually get to know from Youtube videos, this way I find some interesting aspects and photos of the reviewers.

I think: Steve Huff is a generalist; Jared Polin is a specialist; Tony Northrup is a generalist; Ted Forbes is a generalist; Mattias Burling is a generalist; Omar Gonzalez is a specialist; Dustin Abbott is a specialist; Thomas Heaton is a specialist; Steve Perry is a specialist; Elia Locardi is...

    SiJy 2019 Day 8

Photography is a representation, your eyes don't see things in 1/1000s speed, or shallow DOF, photography isn't meant to be real IMHO. I'm not sure about ACR but there's an option to remove EXIF when you export from LR, for privacy reasons I guess; or maybe you copy/pasted the image onto...

  44. jyc860923

    Generalist or Specialist?

Doesn't it take quite some professional skills to claim being a specialist? I've seen pros in landscape, macro, portrait, or even street photography and usually they'll tell you they are interested in other genres too, just they don't make money with something they're not specialised in. That...

That's why it falls into the category of "specialty lens", it's just not how we usually see things. I know many people want to get used to their least used gear for a challenge, but if it were me I'd try to crop the 21mm in post if that makes a better images.

I shot an X-E3 with a few fuji lenses for a whole year in 2018 before switched to Canon, and C1E for Fuji is a good option for free, but if you're serious with the Fuji, buy the Iridient X-Transformer and it makes a real difference IMO, the software developer is also very friendly answering...
