All valid points. I take most of my photos while out walking my dog and having a camera+lens combo that fits in my jacket pocket is a real plus point. I'm trying to take SooC jpegs with Fuji film simulations so I would like to avoid using PP to remove the vignette and, as much as I like and...

I'm afraid that "The Thinking Artisan" (as the box refers to the company) is less than impressed with this lens.... with the caveat that it was £159 rather than the £400 for the Fuji lens. The sharpness, clarity, contrast and general rendering of the lens is really good... but the vignetting is...

If I'm testing something out like this then every time I change a setting I take a picture of my left hand with one or two or three fingers etc in a pre-determined code so I don't have to try and remember my new setting.

I thought it was a spaghetti factory!! Entry #1. Cropped to get rid of the hand rail and ladder, de-saturated and upped the clarity and contrast to get a mechanical look. Colour graded the shadows...

Entry #1. Cropped to get rid of the "FOO", various masks to bring down some distracting highlights and a preset to leave the shade in place. It looks like such a bright day that the shade would be dense and just lit from reflections off the building opposite. Cloned out the TV ariel and a border...

14th January and the Rhododendrons are starting to bloom!!

Entry #2. I thought I'd go for an unusual crop, darken and colour grade the shadows and desaturate a bit...

Entry #1. Selected the water by intersecting a colour mask with a luminance mask and brightened and sharpened the water to get it looking as white as possible. Then a square crop and a very heavy vignette to give it the fairy grotto look. All in LR except for a large border added in PS.

Kodachrome 64 recipe but with the White Balance set to AUTO (R+2/B-5) and Dynamic Range set to AUTO too. Some Shadows and Blacks tweaks, everything else is SooC except for Texture, Vignette and Frame. The changes in sky colour are as shot and the pics were all within 1/2 hour of each other.

Thanks Andy. It seems to be the sort of lens that needs planning and intention to use rather than a walk-about lens. It's hard to avoid getting your own shadow in the pic if the sun's out!

This Meike 12mm f/2.8 popped up during a random search with £50 off plus a 5% discount voucher... so I picked it up for £98 inc. postage. I probably wouldn't have bought it at full price but it seemed like a bit of fun to help while away the hours until Spring. It seems suitably solid and well...

Entry #2. I went for the dramatic "box-art" look from the model kits I used to do as a kid. The texture, clarity and vibrance are maxed out with quite a lot of dehaze, plus an increase in the red saturation and moved the reds over to the oranges in the calibration panel.
