    Morning Has Broken

Wish I could push "Like", "Wow", and "Winner" at the same time.

    More Fog

Just a few more weeks of this view; midnight this morning marked exactly 2 months until my retirement date.

    Show Clouds Sunrise/Sunset

The prelude to another hot, suffocating day. I miss our eastern highlands.

    Show Clouds Sunrise/Sunset

When I retire in a couple of months I'm going to have to find another sunrise location.

Home Renovation Reference for SiJy 2019

LOL! Yeah, we were without a kitchen for 7 weeks. I tend to work slow . . . my wife has gotten used to it.

Home Renovation Reference for SiJy 2019

Brings back some memories. I spent about 5 1/2 years in a series of remodeling projects that began with what was supposed to be a 2-3 week project to replace a leaky front door and frame, and an entry floor. It evolved into many painted rooms, 1,000+ square feet of hardwood floor, refinishing...

Bridges of the New River Gorge

Rickety swinging bridge over Glade Creek in Babcock State Park. It is a wild ride that only gets wilder as it plunges into the gorge, and people actually kayak this! The second image was looking upstream from the bridge.

Waterfalls of the New River Gorge (photo heavy)

A few from a 9 mile trek through Babcock State Park today. There was some serious whitewater on Glade and Mann's Creeks, but their gorges are so steep and deep and the foliage thick, so distant glimpses through the trees were all that were possible.

    The Urban Image Thread

There is a city in there somewhere . . .

    Show Clouds Sunrise/Sunset

Indeed it is. I've missed some really good compositions because I've dawdled, but I've also watched a sky turn from rolling grey clouds to crimson and blazing orange in a very short time.

    Show Clouds Sunrise/Sunset

This image is pretty good, but the sky on the drive to work this morning was a dazzling display of pink and magenta. That had faded by the time I parked and made it to my vantage point.

    Biking the New River

Another nice bike trip along the New, following the same route as my OP in this thread. I finally visited Thurmond on a day when it wasn't hazy or completely overcast. All images with an X100S:

Waterfalls of the New River Gorge (photo heavy)

Indeed it is. You'll need a guide, because there's a huge area to explore. There's a lot of it I still haven't seen, and I go there a lot.

Waterfalls of the New River Gorge (photo heavy)

It was just a bit, Ray, but the long hot shower afterward helped ease my almost 60 year old aches.

Waterfalls of the New River Gorge (photo heavy)

Returning to one of my favorite stomping grounds, I took the MFT gear on one final outing before boxing for shipping out. Lots of water in our streams due to prolonged rain this week. I didn't get an image, but there were many gulls swooping and screeching over the swollen New River at the mouth...

Cloud thread: Just some clouds ...

I missed the flaming sky just a few minutes before this image, but one can't very well whip out a camera in heavy traffic and hope to escape unscathed.

    Words/No Words: Color landscapes

Four years ago today, my wife and I loaded up our little dog and headed off on a Winter road trip. We stopped at a handful of icy waterfalls during our day's round trip across several counties. Although it has some technical flaws, this one is still one of my all time favorites. I had it printed...

    Glade Creek

Thanks Merlin. It is beautiful, particularly in Autumn and Winter. Many sources claim the mill area is the most photographed spot in WV, but how that number is determined, I have no idea.

    Glade Creek

I took a road trip from my house this morning down to my favorite playground in WV, Fayette County. A lot of activity down there revolves around the New River Gorge, and Glade Creek is no exception. It is one of the wildest streams in the canyon, frothing its way through Babcock State Park...

I somehow missed this one. Great capture, Bobby.

    SHOW Paths, Tracks and Roads

Dodgy old bridge on an abandoned rail line. No railings, and at least 25 feet down to the rocky creek bed from the center. Makes me cringe every time I cross it.

    Red London Bus

The Knight Bus!! (Sorry, if you're not a Harry Potter fan, the reference will be meaningless. I'm old, but I'm a nerd.) Take it away, Ernie!
