Nice. I used to drool over Saabs every time when I saw them on the road as a younger driver. Don't know why I never got around to getting one.

    Just out of focus

I had a bit of trouble with back focus today. I was trying to get the predator, but got the prey and leaf instead. I had the same thing happen with a flower image.

Getting close. This was the first trial view of the assembled instruments. I've found as the construction progresses, each step becomes more difficult and more critical. If you mess up the bindings, it just looks bad. If you mess up the neck or bridge fitting, your instrument becomes an...

Several hours of intense sawdust therapy today. I would probably make more progress if I wasn't working on 3 different stringed instruments at once, but it's my way of doing things. Can't say which will be finished first, or when. I'm just working steadily and enjoying the process. When the wood...

Started a new project (as if I need more). It's a Baritone ukulele, and the wood is Bay Laurel from northern CA, USA. The top will be Sitka Spruce. When finished it will have a strong resemblance to this 1920s era beauty...

I pulled out my old Minolta MD 28/2.8 and mounted it to the X-T2 for this one. The flowers are the final survivors from the bouquet I gave my wife for our 37th anniversary a month ago today.

I wanted to try a silky water pic with the X100s, so I turned on the ND filter. I wanted to go with a narrower aperture, but I was at the bottom of a canyon, and I thought 1/4s was about the best I could handle. I wrapped my arm around a handy tree growing along the stream and leaned into it for...

A documentary photo showing progress on my little tenor guitar project. In the middle is a newly bent guitar side clamped in the body molds to set its shape while it dries. On the right is the sister piece already bent. On the left is the Mahogany neck blank with an Ebony reinforcing strip glued...

Testing the Close Focus function of the Vivitar (Kiron) 70-150 on the G80. I decided my hike today would be manual lenses only, something I haven't done in a long time.

I enjoy playing guitar and ukulele, but I'm not good enough to play in a concert. I do play in church a lot, and while musical excellence is important, there's less emphasis on the performance aspect.

Indeed. I'll be 60 in a few months. About 1/3 of the people at my work place weren't even born when I started working there. Instead of slowing down, I've been picking up the pace in my activities. I have to remind myself it's OK sometimes to chill out and do nothing.

I have taken a sabbatical from photo forums for some time. In fact, during that time I took very few images beyond documenting some projects I was pursuing. Here's the result of one such project, a tenor ukulele I built from a DIY kit. Being me, I added a few enhancements like a side sound port...

The Requisite Cat (Kitty) Photo thread

I'm very sorry for the loss of your beautiful Lana. My mom lost her cat in a similar fashion several years ago. It's tough because there's a part of you that always wonders what happened. At least my little friend from next door is still alive. I just won't see him again. I did have the...

The Requisite Cat (Kitty) Photo thread

Our neighbor's daughter left today for a new job around 1,000 miles away, taking her cat with her. He is a very friendly cat and spent a lot of time hanging around our house. He and our dog grew up from kitten/pup at the same time, playing together a lot. We helped keep an eye on him when they...

    Plants of all kinds

The Northern Pitcher plant. I know of only one place where it grows in our state, and this is the first time I've ever been able to time a visit to Cranberry Glades to catch it in bloom. The unique pitcher-shaped leaves were not prominently visible yet.
