    Fuji X-S20 and XF 8mm f/3.5 announced

Yeah, Fuji really hiked the pricing this round. The X-S10 started at $999. 3 years later, same sensor, $300 more. I guess they're really hoping to grab the video folks. The older sensor is plenty for 4k.

    Color Cars I can't afford

Sitting in a fast food drive thru of all places. Just had to grab the phone cam. Edit: I know it's not in color, but a color shot takes away from the Jag, which was black anyway.

    B&W: Words/No Words

Took another lash at this stairwell shot. Used Capture One this time, and I think it did a better job handling the distortion from the UWA. Also made the B&W more contrasty.

    Fuji X-S20 and XF 8mm f/3.5 announced

Since it's the same sensor, it's definitely a tough sell as an upgrade. Yeah, newer processor and bigger battery and a touch more IBIS, but unless you find any of those particularly lacking, might as well stick with what you have.

For what it’s worth, you can set the X-T shutter dial to T and get the free-wheel shutter dial on back, and setting exposure comp dial to C gets you exposure comp on the front. Can make it behave much more like the custom dial setups.

Fuji Waiting (im)patiently for the 8mm f/3.5 announcement

Seems like it needs to be an f/1-something to get that asking price. I don’t even see that it has OIS. It must have really good optics or Fuji HR needs to target the marketing department during the next random drug test round.

    Fuji X-S20 and XF 8mm f/3.5 announced

I actually like that the X-S20 has the 26MP sensor, as that's a decent file size for me. Just seems really steep for the lens though. It's nice and ultra-wide, but even 599 seems like too much for a 3.5 prime. I'll be sticking with my 10-24, I reckon.

I thought about Adobe, but they make you enter your payment info just to do the measly 7-day trial. Everyone else appears to give you 14-31 days to evaluate, and they don't ask for your CC number until you actually buy their product.

I didn’t use a coupon, but that’s what I paid for it at B&H. I like the software, but I didn’t $300 like it. They found my price!

Edits using the newly purchased Capture One. I like how it will detect and use the Fuji Film Sim I shot with. Best of both worlds.

Finally bit the bullet and bought a standalone copy of Capture One 2023. I made a happy discovery that you can buy the software from retailers like B&H for way less than at the CaptureOne website. $300 was too much, but half that price was much more appealing. I had sold some unused PC hardware...

Mac Mini - which arrangement to use? Processor or storage?

While true, I don't think it's nearly as big a deal anymore, especially on desktops (which is what OP is looking for). If you aren't demanding the most performance money can buy, there's really very little wrong with something older. I find even the 2010 Mac Pro perfectly useable today, with a...

Mac Mini - which arrangement to use? Processor or storage?

A lot of editing programs use the Neural Engine on the M-line, and the performance is pretty solid, even on the base M1. I'd probably get the M1 with 1TB storage. I don't think M2 is worth it unless you're going to get the Pro version. I guess we'll see what M3 becomes. I had an M1 mini for a...

Fuji Waiting (im)patiently for the 8mm f/3.5 announcement

That’s too much, IMO. At least for a 3.5 anyway. Sounds like it could at least be really compact since that shouldn’t need big glass.

    Fuji Disconnected.

Maybe the battery is going bad? Might be worth it to check the terminals of the battery itself and see if you need to clean them off. Maybe it’s just oxidized enough to lose connection. It could be on the other end (body terminals), but that’s a lot harder to access.

If the bird looks pissed, it's because it is. No, not because it's all wet. I also use these on my gear. I like being able to easy remove the strap for shooting indoors. I did end up removing the leash they had, and installed a traditional wide strap to mine, but it works just the same.

The dual-fold screen on the Fujis is great, and I like how it disables the EVF sensor when you pull the screen out. It seems like such a no-brainer design decision, but it’s not necessarily a default option among brands. I really do like all the little touches Fuji incorporates in their designs.

Some of this too is that you can only start getting so small on a camera body before you run out of places for buttons and knobs and wheels. Plus, gripped bodies are never intended to be as small as possible. The OM5 is nearer the lower limit of a camera body, IMO. What you say is definitely the...
