    Animals Show Birds

While I am waiting for the G9II (which will be my birding camera), I am left tuning the Gh6 for birds. I saw this one duck that was doing a lot of wing flapping. I switched from a very high shutter speed to a lower one to get the wings blurred.

As I fine tune my Gh6 (still learning), I find the sensor of very high quality (this is a crop taken at about 50'):

    Micro 4/3 G9II

I have 2 G9s and both are on the way to MPB. Why you ask? @74 I'm probably on my last set of ICL cameras. I love the Gh6 and the G9II is going to be the perfect companion I think. Same sensor and perfect for birding. I have loved using my g9's but the new sensor, the new focusing system (Only...

When I travel its very light. Gx85/Oly9-18 and Oly 75-300 II or Pany 35-100 f4/5.6. Modern software has made this , for me, a great travel kit. Here a BIF that after a bit of Noise reduction / sharpening works for me:

Micro 4/3 Not even a rumour

I would change my 2 G9's to one G9II. That being said, don't underestimate the Gh6 as a stills camera. Loving mine. Did you know you can shoot video with the Gh6 (soon to have the BM recorder for thier raw to play nice with resolve)....:)

Have not been doing a lot of imaging lately, but yesterday went to the Pond with a friend. While my stills are better, these are a few cropped frames from the h265 30 fps 6K from the G9. Frames have been cropped.

So I was shooting a video of some Killdeer , and a Kingfisher flew by. Shutter speed was 1/60 second so I panned. Here is a frame from the 6K video:

    GAS A new PC

I am running 64 gigs of 3600 ram, and its runs Divinci Resolve Studio, Presonus Studio 1 PRO, and PS/LR well. If you were running a machine with multiple GPU's and perhaps lots and lots of TB storage (I have 30 TB of various types) then perhaps 128 gig might be necessary. But probably only...

    Feedback Are we back?

So during the "shutdown" I visited a few others sites (yes, father I know I've sinned). So sad to see what the old M43 site has become or the wounded/dying/dead DPR, and how the DPR replacements are struggling. Yet I did missing this special place that is focused on photography (meaning imaging)...

Micro 4/3 Are you a bird shooter? Take a look at Photoshop's latest.

I'm seeing more and More AI - in my processing software for stills (PS & On1), Resolve Studio for Video, and Studio One 6 for DAW. Depending on what I am producing I won't or will use it. What the boundaries are for such use will be determined by users and viewers. It going to happen so fast...

    Micro 4/3 Thinking of switching 40-150 F2.8 to 40-150 F4

I have a full complete of the Pany f2.8's and the Pany Lecia Lenses, but when I travel (most to the SW) I take only the Oly 9-18 and the 75-300II. And sometimes I switch the 75-300 for the 35-100 f4/5.6 ( My Pany 2.8 is a monster compared to this very tiny, sharp, stabilized lens). Every once...

    Show: Spiders

A relatively small Giant House Spider in an old flower pot. One of the fastest Arachnids, large females (1.5" body) run about a meter in a second - but not for long just a second or two. NOT aggressive and keep bugs under control. Induced species like the non-medically significant HOBO.

    Philosophy About 'Stroll Photography'

I'm on a local meetup group (where I'm a co-organizer) and every year I try and do 4 or 5 strolls in what I call an Americana series. The idea is that we just go to a small town and walk and shoot. Perhaps the best thing is that you find what your perspective in on imaging and what kind of...
