    Film New Toy(o)

Stumbled across a darned-near-new Toyo 4x5 today. Mint condition. No film holders of lenses, but I have enough of those. But included a focus cloth, rail extension, bag bellows and 2 flat lensboards and 1 recessed lensboard. Plus a hard fitted case.

Pairing up video & audio tracks, but Win8.1 won't cooperate

So I'm getting into recording more and more video, and using a lav mic to remotely record the audio, and lately I've been trying to set the date/time on both my camera & voice recorder so I can more easily pair them up in post. However, when I transfer the video files to the computer, Win 8.1...

Film My Second 'Real' Camera is Now My Latest Acquisition

I started out taking photos with a Pentax K1000, and after a couple years had saved up enough money to buy my dream camera.... A Pentax MESuper. If I had a nickle for every frame of Kodachrome 25 I took with that camera, I'd be able to buy my own country. Today, while in the local...

Film How to turn off this Forum Pop-Up?

Just about every time I visit, I get this pop-up asking the same question. I can either agree, or I will forever be asked, over and over, endlessly, ceaselessly, forever, and eternally be plagued with this pop-up. My options are to Always Receive, or Not Now. Apparently, "now" means "just...

    Film Another Toy Store Find

Found something today at the local camera store I just couldn't pass up, if for no other reason that it looks like it would be fun to use. It's a 2x teleconverter................................. ........ with a focusing helicoid built into it: It basically acts as an extension ring...

    Film Today's Brick-n-Mortar-Camera-Store Find

Sauntered into the local Toy Store today and walked out with these: The K1000 suffers from the usual Dead Meter Syndrome, but the ones I've come across I've been able to effect a simple repair. Otherwise, everything is in near-mint codition (the 200mm looks totally unused!) Forty clams for...

Film Getting back to my roots

When I was about 15 and started pushing a shutter button just for fun, I saved up enough allowance to buy a brand-spankin' new Pentax K1000 with a 50mm 1.7 lens. Soon after, the disease spread and I upped to an MX. I then paired that with an ME Super and had an entire suite of lenses, from the...

    Film SCORE! Thanks, Craigslist!

Every once in a while, Craigslist has a real deal. Today, I picked up these gems: Nikon FG, 50/1.8 Series E, a Five-Star 70-200/4.5, Nikon SB-15 speedlight and a CPC case. All for a whopping fifty bucks! I think the camera will need new seals, but so far it all seems to be working. Happy...

Last Batches of Summer Ice Cream

A local dairy produces a real nice (albeit expensive) ice cream mix that just can't be beat. I had resigned myself to not seeing any until next summer as they don't usually produce it after early September. But, to my astonishment, there were 4 containers in the cooler at the grocery store...

Film Me, the Shen Hao 4x5 and an Auto Rally

Fantastic day for an auto show, so I spent about 2 hours burning up some film in the Shen Hao. Since the cars are all parked side-by-side, taking a shot of the entire car would merely be a snapshot from a terrible angle and have the busiest backgrounds imaginable. So I concentrated on...

Nikon It was the strangest of sensations.

It was totally ethereal. Unreal. Yet real. I was sitting at my desk, doing some work on the computer. I thought I heard a bell ringing. Then a slight tingling sensation in my left breast. I stopped working. And oddly, I never did continue my task. I then heard voices. Familiar voices...
