    Smoke on the Water, Sunrise

I am not sure I have ever had a shoot with conditions like I did this morning. Nearly every frame I shot was worth holding onto. So I thought I would post them in their own thread, even though these usually don't get as many views. It has been getting up into the 50s the last few days, with...

    Challenge! Guess What and Where

It is North Head lighthouse at the north side of Cape Disappointment which does face the ocean. Cape Disappointment lighthouse is to the south at the mouth of the Columbia. The photo was shot on the beach near the campground for Cape Disappointment State park. My son and I spent a couple nights...

Micro 4/3 Wide angle Lawoa or ?

I have an Kowa 8.5 (still listed in the classifieds) that gives really, really nice results for wide angle on mft. It is a bit heavy and is manual focus, but on such a wide angle, focussing is not at all difficult. I just don't use it any longer. I haven't used any of hte Lawoa wide angle...

Just curious: your most fun DSLR to shoot?

The only DSLR I have much experience with is my Pentax K1. So I guess that. I went from Olympus E-M5 to the K1 specifcially for landscape and greater DR. It serves that role perfectly.

Show - Shots in 65:24 / XPAN Aspect Ratio

An interesting effect, that only the broad XPAN ratio can really capture. As the sun was setting over the Foothills Parkway, it passed over a cloud bank. The cloud refracted the light from the sun in a way that stretched across the sky. I tried my best to capture it, it wasn't that easy, This...

I hobbled out of the car to capture this shot this morning. I have done no PP on this. This is the RAW simply exported from LR.

Your Top 3 for January 2024

Better late than never, I guess. Being that I still can't put weight on my knee after surgery and Tennessee had a doozy of a snow/ice storm, I didn't shoot a great deal in January. I did get out for a little shooting bit. Enough to pick out a few to share. Please share yours!

For Sale For Sale: Kowa Prominar 8.5mm f/2.8 mft lens | Location: USA | Ships: USA

Since mft is getting a bit more publicity these days, I thought I would bump this back up. The lens is still available, surely someone wants the light to fall through it again.

    Micro 4/3 New rumors

Behance? He is using Behance as a judge of users? Then he excuses no one wanting to hear about the gear by not passing on info on the gear? That sounds pretty self-fulfilling. I have no clue who this person is. From these quotes, I choose not to know anything further.

    Micro 4/3 New rumors

I'm surprised that Chris and Jordan didn't have a day-of release video on PetaPixel. Not only are they sponsored by OM, but they both are known users of mft and Olympus/OM gear personally.

Classifieds For Sale: Leica M10-P, Leica Q, multiple lenses | Location: USA | Ships: USA

I'm curious, How did you use the Q? I like the concept of the camera. I think that it would be a nice piece of kit to have around. I am just not positive on where it would fit into my type of photography.

    Micro 4/3 New rumors

I think the general market has just moved on from mft. The last place that it still has any legs is in Japan. But even OM Systems isn't playing to that market any longer.

    Micro 4/3 New rumors

The thing is is the mft will remain a niche system. It simply did not win the market share at the beginning of the mirrorless market to keep it a major player. If OM continues it will probably be like Pentax, a new piece of gear every once in a while + whatever they can glean from Sigma to...

    Micro 4/3 New rumors

Well that was definitely a camera and lens release. I am thoroughly whelmed. The OM-1 updates are fine. Mostly software and a bit more RAM for the buffer and processing. It seems the extreme macro shooters are really happy about that. The big lens is big. The little lens is little, but no...
