I have used Total Commander since the 90s on PC but I stopped using it because File Explorer finally got better. Then I discovered that Total Commander was ported to Android some years ago and I have used that very successfully transferring large amounts of images from my phone to an external...

Bough a used OEM Olympus 62mm lens cap because I dropped mine at the bottom of the pond at the park. I will have to wait until August to fish it out when the water level lowers. I could have gotten a simple and cheap plastic replacement but I do love the build quality of that lens cap.

Awesome. I can't wait for the V series to be upgraded with that (if they can/will given it's compact size). I would love to be able to charge on the go because my V350 can drain in less then an hour of focus bracketing with flash bursts.

I need to get one too for my PixaPro Li-Ion V300 II flash so I can use it off hand for wireless macro (could have been very useful with these strong winds we have right now). I will wait for deep discounts.

It depends on the noise indeed. If it's a very high pitch constant noise when the PC is on it could be coil whine coming from some GPUs. If it's the way you describe it Richard it could be capacitors inside a PSU or on the motherboard but those kind of issues are not as common as back in the 80s...

Of you don't use the wide all that much then maybe when Tamron announces the 50-400mm f 4-6.3 that might be a good combo with either the diminutive Tamron 20-40mm f 2.8 or the excellent Tamron 17-28mm f 2.8 or the Tamron 28-75mm f 2.8 G2. I know that most of the lenses haven't been announced yet...

I do notice that sometimes the Olympus 40-150mm f 2.8 PRO looses some of magic if I put the MC14 on it so I don't use them all that often for wildlife but I wouldn't mind put it on the Olympus 300mm f 4 PRO. From my limited experience with the prime it's sharpness is something I never...

I was always confused by Nikon and Pentax releasing crippled cameras and/or mounts with limited compatibility of their past lenses. Which is quite a dichotomy because in that era they would also max out the specs beat they could to compete with everyone else: remember when buffer size would...

The teleconverters can work on the Olympus 60mm f 2.8 Macro to give you higher magnification power but you need to use specific extension tubes between the macro lens and teleconverter to work. That's my main reason why I got the 1.4x teleconverter (though I haven't bought the extension tubes...

It's here. My first impression is it's a hefty little one for its size, feels very well built and the lens hood, while being plastic somehow, feels nicely built with mat finish and a ribbed little ring to make it easier to grab and lock/unlock the lens hood. I love the metal body but I am a bit...

For me the Panasonic G100 is a tempting camera to convert to Infrared for that gorgeous 20 MP and very good price and quite compact size. I would venture, at my own risk and it's my own opinion, to say that Tamron 28-200mm f 2.8-5.6 is the lens that comes close (in some ways but not all) to Olympus 12-100mm f 4 Pro, it has similar sharpness (not as good in the corner) and well corrected optically, it's one-stop faster between 28...

I had the Panasonic Lumix G 42.5mm f 1.7 ASPH Power OIS back when I had Panasonic G9 and GX8. Just curious: your most fun DSLR to shoot?

It's so damn difficult if not impossible to pick between fun and decent (modern) IQ performance. I do feel 12 MP sometimes is not enough, especially with the high-resolution screens we have these days (and even higher in the future). 20 or 24 MP would be ideal but that limits some cameras...

I don't know, have you seen the antlers on some of those SoBs? I don't want ot end up like this from a jealous moose: In all fairness some people had to invest in those +10K 400/2.8 and 600/4 and I would have trouble switching if I didn't have bottomless pockets. And in some ways some DSLRs...

I wouldn't give up on daily use on my Olympus OM-1 or any mirrorless, I expect the AF to outperform any DSLR. But I would like to have a different experience from time to time making images. Only 38 eh? Don't worry, I'll catch up with you in 3 years :P ... I can understand the pain of small viewfinders, one of the usability issues I had with Pentax K200D was the viewfinder (especially zooming to 135mm at f 5.6 how dark it quickly got or how fast ISO 100 ramped up to 1.600), I have...

Just curious: your most fun DSLR to shoot?

I have been thinking about th Canon 5D and 6D, recently it has been getting a lot of attention for it's IQ and colour rendition, being very similar to film though I don't know how to "see" that since I haven't shot much film in my life so I don't have that point of reference. Thank you so much for the replies, it's a very interesting read indeed.
