I had a stroke last night

Hi John, I'm very late to this news (been off forums for pretty much all of January). I am so sorry you're having this ordeal! I wish you a speedy recovery and hope they get the medication sorted out for you. Keeping you in our prayers. Eli

    Nikon Z upgrade dilemma

Well Hunt's photo gave me the Z8 for $300 off last week without having to trade anything in and it arrived on Tuesday, just in time for crappy weather. My first thought was holy crap this thing is big. However you do get a substantial hold on the camera. That extra bit of thickness to the body...

    Nikon Z upgrade dilemma

Thanks Andrew. So basically all the flexibility and features that the Z8 offers, you'd recommend jumping there and not looking back. Is the viewfinder experience on the Z8 with no blackouts as good as reported? I definitely trust your evaluation as you gave me good advice from the outset...

    Nikon Z upgrade dilemma

That's interesting to hear that the Z9 made that much of a difference in the results you got from that lens! Makes me wonder if a Z8 would give me the same feeling about adapted f mount 300 f/4 + TC. I know the AF speed on Z8 / Z9 is supposed to drive the older f mount glass faster than the Z6...

    Nikon Z upgrade dilemma

    Hi all, I'm getting myself a bit wrapped around the axle trying to decide what to do next. I currently have Z6, Z 70-180 f2.8, Z 24-120 f4 S, Z 40 f2, AF-P 70-300 f4.5-5.6, AF-S 300 f4 D, and f mount TC's for the 300. I learned a month ago that have a bonus that I was not counting on coming...

Micro 4/3 What are your expectations on Black Friday Discounts for 2023

That cleaning issue sounds like a horrible pain! As for the telephoto thing I understand where you're coming from. I'm sitting here contemplating the Nikon 180-600 or the same Tamron you have now for Z for myself for Christmas. I just keep looking and saying how huge they are. I knew...

Micro 4/3 What are your expectations on Black Friday Discounts for 2023

Ovi, if you don't mind me asking is this considering getting rid of the Sony system or adding to it? It looks like you were getting along with the Sony really well.

    Nikon Nikon Z f announced ...

I am excited to see the extra tech bits thrown in so that it's not just a literal Z6ii in a new wrapper. I would love to have the expeed 7 and the ai features in my Z6. I'll be watching for AF reviews to see how the system does when not implemented on the stacked sensor from Z8/Z9. As much as I...

    Nikon Showcase Nikkor Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR

Thanks for sharing the images and experiences! This lens is likely the next one for me to save up for and purchase. The sheer size of it has me concerned. I have a 300 f4 D and it's max weight with Tc-17eii and FTZ still only hits 1850g (with hood and tripod collar) and is just shy of 12 inches...

Nikon Nikon Z 6II --- a good idea or rather wait for newer releases?

I also appreciate the ability to do some basic edits and raw conversion in the camera itself while on vacation. Then use the app to pull off the jpeg.

So what kind of sports are you looking to photograph and what dslr are you currently coming from? The Z6 is fine for some sports and it will come down to your expectations. I find it perfectly acceptable for my kids sports - baseball, gymnastics, and I'll find out about soccer/fútbol this fall...

    Birds Show Birds

I pulled the old EM1.1 out of the drawer a couple of times somewhat recently and put the Nikon AF-S 300 f/4 D on with the 1.4x for a 420mm reach. The viewfinder is not stable at 840mm effective with IBIS lol. I should have used more shutter speed and I may have had more keepers. MF is hard...

    GAS This or that

How long do you have to keep them before selling? Seems like pick which one has faster /better resale for you to fund your RF mount. Also seems like you already decided on the Sony but that soft spot for Nikon is hard to ignore :p Personally I would take the nikon kit for the 100-400 and sell...

    Nikon Z 40mm f/2

I have this lens to use with my Z6 and it makes a compact package. It's definitely a nice bang for buck and my only way to make a small kit out of the system. I rather like the overall look and feel of images from the combo. It sharpens up in the center at about f 2.8, but I'll still use it...

Nikon Enlighten me in regards of the Nikon DX system, from D300 and up. :-)

Animals The Animal Kingdom: wild or domestic!

Oh man I hope I didn't seem aggressive. No intention to be at all. I found Chris's @MountainMan79 post hilarious and it made me question my own assumptions. We've had enough communication between here and MU-43 that I hope no offense was taken.

Animals The Animal Kingdom: wild or domestic!

Sorry Chris, I'm gonna have to disagree with you. I live in the south and it's groundhog that is equivalent to marmot and woodchuck . I think the muskrat is a semi-aquatic animal where the groundhog prefers to stay on land. Muskrats have rat looking tails where the others have a furry tail.

    Nikon Nikon Z fc Talk

The 24-120 is a really great lens, but the only thing I can see as similar to the Sigma is that they share the 50-100mm focal range. The 2 1/3 stop difference is huge if you're used to using the Sigma at 1.8. https://camerasize.com/compact/#877.1027,877.551.4,ha,t The Sigma likely will be...
