Great shots - and that excitement about seeing something rare - I definitely get that :) Congrats...

I can only imagine - the colors are pretty muted on the females (in real life) as it is, let alone with low light. Seems like the slower shutter speed served a dual purpose then. Cardinals are lovely birds...

Oh, I like that a LOT! Mostly I know we like to take fast shutter speeds to stop motion, and capture birds at a moment in time, but this one tells a great story - especially the expression on the female - "I'm crazy about you" :) Bravo!

That is a very interesting bird! Quite the coloration!

Thanks for the run down. I'm a fan of primes. I have mostly ultra-wides, but I do have the 45mm/f1.8 which has come in super handy on occasion. Not frequently, but occasionally I shoot indoor sports, and my zooms are really challenged... I keep going back and forth about getting something a...

Didn't know that Sigma made a 56mm lens for MFT! Gorgeous shot - and yet another thing to add to the GAS list...

You know, I think I've been a bit unfair about the (M43) 40-150mm f/2.8+MC20. This is not a good picture, because Sicily is not cooperating on the weather (and our lady here dumped a bunch of ash on us), but this is a 68% crop at 300mm, and I think it's decently sharp at f/5.6. Someday when I...

You're very welcome. One of the terrific things I love about Photography is that it is a means of artistic expression - you're capturing a moment or telling a story - that is accessible to people like me (stick figures are about as artsy as I get!). The very best puts your audience in the...

I really like the way you processed that -- almost feels like a painting!

You should definitely do it. Most of my travel is for business, but Poland is just gorgeous -- everywhere I've been. Last time, I'm still familiarizing myself with my Pentax gear, so my shots didn't do the area justice, but just to give you a taste... Next time I'm going to have a little more...

Just out of curiosity, where did you shoot those? I'm going to be in Bydgoszcz for a couple weeks next month, and I'll have some time to explore your country a bit -- I want to get some birding in...

Y Yeah, that's true enough :) Mr. Bird, you have the rest of your life to start flapping... One thing I love about photography - we as enthusiasts / pros know how hard it is to nail a shot like that -- outsiders just think, "wow looks cool!"

Wow, terrific shot! I especially love how the bird is stopped but the bug is flapping like its life depended on it :)
