I saw several stretches of road like this and in some there were brown streaks where a car had run over crickets and live crickets were eating the dead.
When I was there I was wondering if there is even a category of rapid that could describe it. Anyone foolish enough to kayak over that this time of year would be dead.
Shoshone Falls Idaho. This is a good year to see it, probably through early June. Afternoon is the best light. Don't go on weekends as the parking is pretty skimpy.
At Ritter Island, Idaho, the Snake River splits around the island. This is the slower channel. The falls on the left are one of the Thousand Springs in Hagerman Valley. I used an orange filter on the Pentax 11-18mm.
This is some species of large carpenter bee. I'm not sure where I was when I took this, but I've seen other carpenter bees like this in the Southwest US. Edit: I just remembered that I was in Davis, California.
