Roadside flowers cycling towards Corinna, Tasmania. This is actually the second photo, the first one was blurry because I forgot I had the camera in manual focus. At least I remembered to take the lens cap off.

Okay. We will probably be in Tassie by then. The lowest cost we found was on the 11th of November. That will give us a nine day introduction to navigating Australia. Looking at the ferry prices we want to get there before they go up. Looks like we won't make it back to the mainland until January...

If you can do 30-40 mile rides then you are definitely capable of a 400 mile tour. 😃 We sold our house to live on our bikes for the rest of our retirement. Decided against an RV or van. Leaving for Australia on November 1st to ride around it for a year.

We came to the end of a Forest Service road and had to make a trail through a section of forest to a creek. Push our bikes down the creek a little ways so we could access another road. This was during a 400 mile (643km) ride through Oregon and Washington.

The oldest camera you actually have a reason for using?

My oldest camera I continue to use is a Sinar F1 4x5. It helps me slow down and meditate on the practice of photography. For 35mm my oldest is either the Minolta X-370 or the Canon AE1 I got them both around the same time 1984 (when the X-370 was released). Sinar F1 Ilford HP5 Plus 400

In 2012 I switched to Fujifilm with the X-Pro1. Though my main camera is the X-T5, I still dust off the X-Pro1 quite often. Here are some photos from the first hike I did with the X-Pro1. Taken at Olympic National Park.

    White Balance Beyond Auto

I think I have been saying that all along, just differently and not has detailed. For those photographers that do not want to use RAW then custom white balance is a nice option. I find that getting the color balance to match my emotion during the exact moment of capture is much better than...

    White Balance Beyond Auto

The reflectivity of an average scene is 12.7% for photography so cameras calculate from that and not 18% which is a color average for print and why Kodak made the 18% gray card in the first place. For photography we had to angle the camera 45 degrees from the card otherwise the exposure would...

    White Balance Beyond Auto

Because of how software displays RAW files, scientific or not, we won't see much of a difference because it depends on how the software reads a manufacturers RAW file. It can really be confusing, but, "garbage in garbage out" still applies when it comes to data. However, you are correct, a RAW...

    White Balance Beyond Auto

Most pixelroom software, especially Adobe, read RAW data this way. RAW is a data file, not an image file and only records the sensor information. White balance can change capture settings in the camera that the RAW file records. I use CaptureOne and it reads Fujifilm RAF files better than Adobe...

How do you manage your photographs???

Finder search has never been a problem for me, it has always found a search whether on the computer or connected drive. Because all my photos are stored in date only format, I add a tag to the folder created about the subject or event. Works flawlessly.

How do you manage your photographs???

Like all of the AI keywording app, It is too generic for me. I don't keyword with only generic terms like contrast, color, tree, etc. I also add personal information like what I was doing and where. I also add the names who are in the photos as well as scientific names of nature. At this time...
