Large number of B&H "mega-deals" today Dry Boxes, Domke, etc.

B&H has a few mega-deals that run each day, but today there are pages of them. Some at significant (50% or more) discounts. All sorts of stuff but I particularly noticed some Ruggard dry boxes and some Domke & Vanguard bags with huge mark downs. Don't forget the "load more" button at the...

Fuji My thoughts switching from primes to the 16-55 2.8

What a great way of looking at this subject. This will stick with me and and will probably influence my decision (leaning towards primes) when choosing a kit for the day or trip (although the 18-55 will usually be close by, just in case, since the widest prime I have is 23). Thanks !

    Tv-Shots (Film Noir)

I like your shots. I've long had a fascination with my own captures from the couch, but somehow they have felt unholy. I've never kept any. I do like your noir treatment, but I suspect that the subject matter, composition and nostalgia of what's on the tube is the draw for me.

Plunging into a nearly frozen Lake Placid - my first action shots w/X-T2

Thanks. Lake Placid, in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York (two time Winter Olympic venue). Lake Placid is the name of both this lake and the village. If the boat house weren't blocking the view, Whiteface Mountain is just to the left of the mountains you see.

Plunging into a nearly frozen Lake Placid - my first action shots w/X-T2

Likewise! As the old guy in the group tagging along (I'm the father of the young man closest to the camera), I was happy that much stayed on. Thanks for the feedback.

    Fuji Fuji Remote App

I have used the WiFi in the "camera creates an Ad-Hoc network and phone looks for it" mode in my home which has two different WiFi access points and is also in range of several of the neighbor's. With my iPhone and iPad, I have no problem simply selecting the Fuji WiFi and don't have to forget...

Plunging into a nearly frozen Lake Placid - my first action shots w/X-T2

I mostly shoot static subjects with primes and focus manually. I'm new to Fuji and found myself with an opportunity to take some action shots. Not knowing anything about the venue in advance I threw on the kit zoom. I set ISO at 200 and aperture at f/5.6 and let the camera do the rest. This...

    Fuji Fuji Remote App

I think you may be misunderstanding using the wifi with the remote app. You do not need an existing network ... the camera creates an adhoc wifi network instantly when you choose "communicate" and you just connect to that wifi from your phone/tablet/pc (the phone sees the camera, not vice versa).

    Bike in Christmas Parade

My son had a connection in PDX Thursday night that got cancelled and wound up having to stay overnight. He was able to get out 6 AM Friday. Soon I'll be posting a few shots I took while he was back east. The pug definitely steals the show !

Fuji Poll: Does the XF56 rattle ?

I was hoping for a bigger sample, but I'm relieved that "silent" has polled at 0%. Combined with the comments above and my experience with the lens so far I'm tickled to keep it. Thanks for helping me make an informed decision.

Fuji Poll: Does the XF56 rattle ?

Thanks Kyle ... I was thinking in a similar vein but didn't have the specific knowledge to put it all together. Now I've got a nice picture in my head of the internals.

Fuji Poll: Does the XF56 rattle ?

Thanks for the info, Amin ... it does give me some comfort. You first replied just a few seconds before I posted my clarification above. I hope to find some time tomorrow to take some more serious test shots. If any of the elements were loose, I can't imagine it would get anywhere near this...

Fuji Poll: Does the XF56 rattle ?

Clarification: The noise I am talking about is made when the lens is NOT mounted on the camera. The lens does not make any untoward noises while autofocusing. If I hold the unmounted lens in my hand and move it along the optical axis OR sideways, it sounds as if parts are loose within a small...

Fuji Poll: Does the XF56 rattle ?

I bought a XF56 on eBay from a mass seller that has no particular expertise in photography. It was described as appearing as new and claimed it had been tested and "functions as intended", but did not have the original packaging. The price was right so I pulled the trigger. I have lots of...

    Fuji I'm baack

Thank you all for the feedback re: PP. From what I've read so far, if I were an Apple user, Irident would be a no brainer, but I'm stuck deep in windows. Swamped right now, but I will start a new thread with some specific questions in the relavent forum section soon. Thanks again ... it's good...

    Fuji I'm baack

I was (mostly lurking) here around 2 years ago when I picked up a used XE-1 to try out the sensor in the family before springing for an X-T1. At the time, I decided to stick with Sony APS-C and sold the Fuji after a short while. The other day I stopped in a camera store I was driving by on a...

It's mostly to distract predators so they're less likely to go after the more vulnerable nesting females.
