I use Google Rewards to "earn" money to pay for the various apps I use. Looking at my account, my earnings are > $275 as of today. I find a lot of the ad driven apps to be getting very intrusive. Having the reward "money" allows me to contribute toward the development of the apps I use.

I have used Solid Explorer on my S4 tablet (and all my other Android devices) since day one for transferring files. You can connect to just about any kind of device with it. I connect to my Synology NAS. It's not free, but we'll worth the couple of $ it costs. Good luck
