we had a great overnight trip to the we(s)t-coast of Vancouver Island - our first visit (we lucked out with great November-weather)

spent a fun morning at the Blacksheep gathering in Albany, OR... While my wife was shopping for wool, I spent some time in the livestock pavilion, looking at the beautiful animals...
The Olympus Stylus 1 came in pretty handy - the photos came out quite nicely although it was quite dark in there...
been almost two years now since our last visit... nice to be able to go back...

The D750 - of all my cameras the one I use the least... I previously only had the 24-120mm (which made the combo just a little bit too big and heavy to be comfortable on hikes), but recently picked up a cheap 24-85mm and thought I have to give this camera a go again. :)

first time in a long time that I kind of felt "in the zone" again on a walk - and took a lot of photos in a relatively short amount of time (3 hours)
Most of these were with the Stylus 1 - except the 2nd one (E-M5 and Oly 50mm f2)

Hi everyone,
I have a Sigma DP2 Merrill in "good" condition (happy to take detailed photos of it - but want to wait with that until I know if anyone might be interested in this...
We went up into the mountains yesterday - the weather forecast looked nice (and the weather ended up even nicer :) )
I didn't expect to have our walk ON the lake - just goes to show that I still have to wisen up a bit when it comes to Canadian winters :-D
Using my E-M1 mk2 and the old 4/3...
Inspired by the "owned too many cameras" thread ;) - post one photo from each camera you own or owned...
It doesn't have to be a complete set - just as much as is fun!
When I tried to do this I realized that it's going to be tricky to get a full set :-D Especially if you factor in phone cameras :)
We had a great hike on the long weekend last week with perfect weather - for a hike...
Blue sky, sun and a cool breeze... which also meant taking photos in midday sun almost all day :)
The Nikon 24-120mm (that I got with the D750 last year) is not a great lens (Olympus' four-thirds 12-60mm is...
so it's winter again - that time of year when we ponder too much over our photo gear instead of using it :)
I really like the Olympus 75-300mm for it's size&weight to performance ratio.
It does have some shortcomings though:
-slow and not super-accurate autofocus
-in less than perfect light I...

Have you activated the "Super Control Panel" (SCP)? (on the E-M5 MkI it was off by default). Basically that's all I'm ever using to change settings - the menus are just too ridiculous :)
Add the cheap, small and light 40-150mm f4-5.6R to it and you're...
We just went for a short walk today at a nearby wetland regional park.
Of course I didn't think of bringing a long lens  a stupid mistake because at a previous visit we saw a bald eagle attack a barred owl in mid-air... Guess I'm still not quite back in the game yet :)
Saw a bunch of bald...
We spent 5 days in the Redwoods again this winter break (one of our all time favourite places).
For me it was like being a kid in the candyshop :) I had my new Nikon D750 with the 24-120mm to try out (and the old Olympus E-M5 with 50mm macro).
(My wife had to be even more patient than usual...
Hi everyone!
I've been a "serious compacts" member previously - coming back since "cameraderie" still seems to be the most relaxed place to just chat about photography (and cameras!) - no matter which camera. :)
I've mostly been using micro-four-thirds and four-thirds cameras for the last 5...
since moving to Dublin 6 months ago, the bay at low tide is where we do most of our weekend walks.
At low tide the bay becomes this empty space... Like a 'wet desert' or a blank canvas. Not the most stimulating environment in itself - but the ever changing light and the ever changing details let...

Amazon.co.uk warehousedeals is currently selling a bunch of these for ~£302 - £311 in "used - very good" and "used like new" condition.
last week I witnessed the craziest thunderstorm I've ever seen when waking up in the middle of the night (or rather lightning storm, as there was barely any thunder).
The light show went on for a long time, with lightning strikes every 30 seconds to a minute. I just grabbed my camera and took a...
after our fantastic Thanksgiving weekend in the Redwoods we went back over the Christmas break. You simply can't get enough of these trees :)
It was interesting to see how much of a difference just one month can make. End of November there were still some colourful leaves around. The torrential...
We had a 'snow day' around here early in January.
Fortunately not even remotely as severe as the snow storms the Eastern Side of the US is suffering under at the moment (Be safe over there!)
So I took the opportunity to take some close-ups around the house.

This winter definitely lives up to the wet reputation that the Pacific Northwest has :) So when the forecast for the Thanksgiving weekend predicted sunny days, we decided to make the most of it and drive down to Northern California. Very glad we did, we had a wonderful two days.

Last weekend we went to Eastern Oregon again. Looks like we'll now have to call that one of our "bi-annual" visits :)
Everytime it has been slightly different, yet always wonderful. This time the weather gods weren't quite on our side, so we saw the area in a different, yet still very...
bit of a noob question (have the camera now for a week) - apologies if this has come up before!
Ricoh provides Silkypix with the GR.
Will the raw-files developed in Silkypix match the GR's in-camera-jpgs (including effects like "Positive Film", etc.)?
I haven't come around to installing it...
kind of a follow-up post to my previous post from the beach :)
We recently spent three days in the Central Oregon Cascades (mostly around the Three Sisters Wilderness - an area which we love).
I decided to use the Olympus E1 exclusively, as I was intrigued to see what it would get me.

bought an old Olympus E-1 (first four-thirds DSLR, introduced in 2003) two weeks ago and had a play with it on the beach over the last few days (while escaping another heatwave).
It's still early days for me with this oldie, but so far I'm having fun :)

Spent a 3-day weekend in eastern Oregon two weeks ago - dayhiking in the Hells Canyon area.
We love the area and were hoping to catch the wildflowers - but spring has been so dry this year that there weren't that many this time around. Or our timing was just wrong. :)
I'm still using the E-M1...
We hiked up Saddle Mountain on Sunday and Gales Creek on Monday.
Trying to get into shape for hiking season and figuring out the best way to carry our gear :)
Sunday was cloudy but atmospheric. We didn't get any views from the summit but instead spotted a sun glory (a sort of rainbow around...
Went down to northern California again this year (well, "last year" - 2014 ) for the holiday break.
Our vacation there the year before was amazing, so we thought why not go there again...
This winter was much wetter than 2013, with a few big storms just before we went. As a result we...
this year we were lucky enough to visit Hells Canyon on two occasions... On June 1st for a day and then a weekend in the middle of October for two days.

Thought I'd tear myself away from all the rumors about upcoming gear and go out and take some pictures instead. Keep busy to pass the time :)
Had Saturday to myself, so I dusted off the old tripod and went out to one of our favourite places in Tillamook forest.
I'm not much of a tripod user...
For my wife's birthday we wanted to do something "special". So what could be better than a visit to Crater Lake? :)
We had booked a 3 day weekend in Bend, Oregon. Drove down to Crater Lake on Friday and spent Saturday hiking in the Three Sister Wilderness (which is close to Bend).

We did a 10 day trip in northern Washington in July. Day hikes in North Cascades National Park and a few days in Olympic National Park on our way back home to Oregon.
Wonderful places... took way too many photos :) Gear-wise I kept it "fairly minimal": Olympus EM-1 with the 14-54mm and the...
I'm having a play with panoramas lately and am looking for the most intuitive way to create them.
So far I've been taking single photos and stitching them in Photoshop, which works fine.

Silver Falls State Park is a beautiful park in Oregon with a fantastic "Trail of Ten Falls". It can be a bit crowded and the light can be challenging (first time we went there it was too sunny :) second time too dark) but it's definitely worth a visit! You can walk behind most of the falls - on...
got my Pentax MX-1 in the mail yesterday
So of course I had to give it a try today - even though the conditions weren't ideal. Summer's over here in the Pacific Northwest, that's for sure. But I guess that's to be expected in November. :)

the Foveon sensor definitely "shines" in good light. But it doesn't always have to be sunshine. :)
I thought it might be interesting to start a thread like this, to show that they're not just "sunshine only" cameras...

Hey everyone,
I've noticed this for a while now on some of my DP2 photos, in random intervals. Thought I'd probably better ask at some point. :)

Both were shot with...

I work in Visual Effects for movies, as Compositing Artist (we're the guys who put all the...
