"Aviation Photo Thread" (Planes, Helos, Balloons, etc)...

@docfox I started working on SH-3Gs (Avionics) in 1983. Primary SAR for the bases in the Philippines and drone recovery were the main mission for those. They did all sorts of other missions. A few years later we got some new CH-53E's. As the Skeet for the Fleet, those 53's were probably the...

Fuji Showcase Fujifilm Astia Film Simulation

I think the normal settings are better to my eye. On the second post it's a closer call, then I noticed the exposure is different between the two. On the first post, there is a little loss of shadow detail with the Ektar settings. They all look good. I don't have a great display, great...

RAW processing for Olympus M5 Mk3 images

I just tried FastOne for the first time ever. Very simple to use. Much easier than Xnview, no setup required! I think it's 32 bit only, where Xnview is 64 or 32 bit. For quick, easy conversion from raw to jpg, FastOne is probably your best bet. I can't test oly, just fuji, but export was just a...

RAW processing for Olympus M5 Mk3 images

Click lighttable on the upper right, and select the image(s) to export. Then on the bottom right is the export section. Click the arrow to the right of "file format," choose your desired file type, then click on export at the bottom of that section. There is a tiff option, but I've always just...

RAW processing for Olympus M5 Mk3 images

Try the free stuff mentioned above then. You can always uninstall it if you don't like it. RawTherapee, Darktable and The GIMP all run on Win, Lin and Mac. The GIMP is a photoshop type program. To convert RAW files, you can set it up to fire up RawTherapee or (I think) Darktable. I would start...

    Music Headphones thread

@Carbonman I just checked my newish (5 years old? 7 years old?) AKG's. Both have pliable plastic instead of leather now. The K240s, described as semi-open, comply very well when lifted by one finger. The closed back K92's are a bit less compliant, but have soft padding. Both have metal bands...

    Music Headphones thread

Yes sir! They go back eons and are not very expensive. There is also a very similar closed ear version, K-92's. Those might be a newer deign. I bought my wife the sealed version. She liked them but wanted ear buds for youtube broadcasts, so I got her some Shure's. That after (against my advice)...

Film What FILM (!) photography related item did you buy this week?

Actually received last week, but started using yesterday. A 35mm bulk film loader, a roll of Fomapan 400 and some plastic cassettes, because I have very few and don't know where to snag any used metal cassettes. New metal is out of stock.

"Aviation Photo Thread" (Planes, Helos, Balloons, etc)...

He was on a carrier, but I don't think he saw much action at that time. Back then you could have two ratings. Most of his time was spent in China on a river working as a metal smith. After the war, he was commissioned and did beach landings in Korea on an LST (Large Slow Target/Landing Ship...

Film Has anyone used Ultrafine Finesse B&W film?

I've seen a lot of photos and comments on Ultrafine Extreme, but almost nothing on the Finesse. It seems mostly well received. Has anyone used it? Love it? Hate it? I'm looking for something less expensive to bulk load, develop learn with. TIA!
