Micro 4/3 Panasonic GX7 image thread

Again, not wanting to hijack this image thread but the question has been asked. I find the focus peaking equally effective/visible using either the EVF or the LCD and I see no difference in the amount of shimmering between the two. The GX7 has a user-selectable high/low setting for...

Live-view histogram accuracy Not to hijack this GX7 image thread but, in response to the above question, I have found the GX7 live-view histogram can be a fairly accurate preview of how far to push ETTR. After reading Petka Potka's journal article on this very subject...

    Canon Canon Finally Go Mirrorless

I'm not inclined to denigrate Canon's new G series flagship model; I'm sure it will have wide appeal. I must say though that Canon's "peeping tube" excuse for a viewfinder doesn't do this camera any favors; it doesn't deserve the extra camera body real estate it occupies. I had a G9 .. very good...

Fuji X-PRO 1 Fully Leaked by French Magazine 'Responses Photo'

Fuji has offered some exquisite cameras (both film and digital) in the past and superb optics .. I expect the X-PRO 1 will be every bit as good. However, assuming the lens shown is roughly the size of an M-mount 35/1.4 lens, this camera would appear to be about the same size as a Leica M8 or...

Stroll Seen while strolling...walking and wandering outside

Right off the bat, I see that when shooting more "off the cuff", everyone's creating some seriously good images. This is a wonderful exercise to break out of a regimented photographic rut. Here's one at the beginning of one of my dog-walking strolls when the days were a bit longer ...

Stroll The nightly dog walk ..

Thanks, BB. I used the venerable GF1 and 20/1.7 combination for this image; ISO3200 is quite usable if you like B&W images with some "hair". When I saw this building detail, I immediately thought the only thing missing was Philip Marlowe standing semi-silhouette leaning against the bricks.

    Philosophy About 'Stroll Photography'

Wouter .. your timing is perfect. With short daylight hours in winter, I think we all experience photographic doldrums. I must say though, even with your casual Stroll Photography, you've set the bar very high with your introductory image. A very moody image .. I love it.

Fuji Dull weather Christmas Eve photos

Ian, it doesn't seem to matter how dismal the weather might be .. nothing stops you from making beautiful images. Splendid work, AGAIN! Do you find, like I do, that it's the poor weather days that make for fabulous light? Sunny weather with all its harsh shadows is so ...... pedestrian. Keep...

New cameras supported in SilkyPix DS Pro 5

Sue, I think most folks who try SilkyPix just don't care for the user interface. Like all software programs, it's just a matter of getting accustomed to its quirks. The SilkyPix tastes are essentially development presets; some mimic film types, some are subtle and others border on outrageous...

I know SilkyPix does not get a lot of love but I still use it occasionally for my Epson R-D1s and Pentax K-5 RAW files. I've just upgraded to SilkyPix DS Pro 5 and I'm happy to report that every new "serious compact" is now supported. Even though the supported camera list doesn't mention the...

Now that I've had a new Panasonic GX1 for a few days, I think I'm obliged to post a few images. I used the GX1 both with and without the new LVF2 viewfinder. krugorg, Thanks for the welcome. If it helps, I kinda feel bad for being such an early adopter. When it gets dark and cold outside and I can't shoot very much, I get the itch. I think it's an OCD problem. Yes, the GX1 was in stock at The Camera Store here in Calgary as of this past Monday.
