I have read about this adapter, but I trust DAG more than my own ability or lack of it to make such modifications. Don needs the ND filter to do some adjustments, and he will code the lens.
Since I am expecting to get back my Leica M9 soon with a new sensor, I decided it is best to focus on using this camera and not get another camera at this time. I was drawn to the Zeiss Hologon 16/8 since a while as it will open up a new type of photography for me. I am used to 50mm and 35mm...
Hi Hamish,
Happy New Year!
I want to ask you for your opinion on getting a Hologon 16/8 modified to M mount.
There is one for sale at a very good price.
Thanks.

Someone emailed me that now the color images don't look as good as they sued to (with the old sensor). Is he wrong. Brian? This is good to know.
Yes, I have been waiting for some time now (since last July I think). I have the loaner M240 :)
I am still waiting to get back my M9 from Leica NJ, and I wonder how the images will be like with the replacement sensor. Has anyone here seen major differences in their M9 after getting a new sensor?
I love using the legendary Canon 85/1.5. It is a very special lens by Canon. Using it on a digtal camera allows us to quickly correct any focus issues. Digital cameras brought such lenses "added value" since these lenses became more useful.
Brain: I need your help!
It looks as if this lens needs some serious shimming. Maybe this is why the previous owner sold it.
Using the M240 RF:
My eyesight is not that bad.
I am content with the Summilux 75/1.4. Using the lens at 1.4 means that I must chosen between an eye in focus (or the other eye) or nose or forehead or .... the dof is too shallow. The 75/1.25 must be "worse".
These are points that I fully agree with, Brian. I bought a Nokton 50/1.1 (used) as a bargain a while ago, as you have said above, and I bought a 7Artisans 50/1.1 for special applications and for fun. I have several "old" J-3 lenses and Zeiss 50/1.5 that you have adapted, so I still have not...

Yesterday, I went with my 12 year old daughter (Lina) to Pensacola Beach to collect 150 clams from the Gulf of Mexico. I had to fist purchase a license to be able to do this legally. I stuck my iphone in my back pocket, and I helped Lina count...
I have not used any of my RF cameras with a tripod so far. I always viewed SLR and MF cameras for possible use with a tripod, but RF cameras were meant for quick, handheld photography. I can see why you need a tripod with night photography!
We miss your visit too!
I agree; I will use the M240 with other lenses where the focusing is not so critical, such as the 35mm lens or a 50mm with max aperture 2.0-2.8.
The lens is heavy and so is the M 240. After one hour of using them both, one of my fingers started to hurt me. It may be the way that I was holding the camera as there is no camera strap. I know that I can focus better on Dana's eyes, so it may have been my focusing or the M240 or the lens or...
My M9 is at Leica USA (NJ) for sensor replacement, so I got a loaner M 240 camera. Then, I got on same day the 7Artisans 50/1.1 from China. It was pouring on that same day, but I took out this camera and lens set to Joe Patti's Seafood in Pensacola to try out the lens (and camera).

I did some focusing tests with the 50/1.1 on the M240 this evening. I seem to be able to focus well. The soft results a few days ago may have been caused by dim indoor lights with ISO 160 and Dana not standing still [I hope so!]
My few shots taken with the 7Artisans at 1.1 look unsharp to me. It can't be my eyes since I have taken many sharp shots with my M9 and M8. I have used 50/.095 and 50/1.0 and other fast lenses in past years. Is it the M240 or is it the lens or is it the combination of lens and camera or is it by...
The lens arrived today. It is beautiful and quite heavy. We have lots of rain, but on Sunday the weather may be free of rain. I will try to use this lens during the weekend on the borrowed M240.
