Totally agree. I was made redundant from work a year and a half ago and aside from owning a 20 year old campervan that eats money, I have far less income than previously. Lots of gear I'd love to have but no longer possible. So am concentrating on what I have and trying to improve my technique...

For me the choice would be down to whether you want a camera which is a complete " package " as in a non-detachable lens like the Stylus, or a system like your current E-PL1 with separate lenses. If you already have several lenses , why not consider an upgrade to the E-PL1 body ?

Liking this topic. 2014 will be a no-spend year for me. Not only for photo gear but in other areas. Partly due to now being un-employed and with far less money to waste, but I ask myself- why do I want/need more gear ? I need to use what I already have.

Really enjoying your thread and continuing to learn about my Q . Definitely under-rated system .... the only thing for me that is " missing" is a detachable electronic viewfinder like the VF-2 on the Oly. For me and my eyes I would find it nigh onto impossible to get any sharp focus with the LCD...

Right now it's my Pentax Q plus f1.9 prime, as it's such a tiny package and I'm having a lot of fun experimenting with the digital/art filters.

These lenses look great on the Q. I've just bought my first C-Mount a Fujian but am looking at more :)

I don't hide mine but then I use a lot of old glass/manual focus so the only exif data on Flickr is/are the camera settings and not the lens- which I usually write on the description anyway. It can be annoying when peeps hide theirs as I get a lot of ideas/inspiration from other people's images...

I think it's down to the " cult" status. The Hexar and a few others command top money irrespective of image quality etc. Not knocking the Hexar but I've had amazing film images from point and shoot film compacts that I've paid next to nothing for...( currently learning how to scan negatives ).

Yep I commuted for 20 years by bike and had a few confrontations with drivers. Love the Brompton though. Great for sticking in the car and going off-road.

Gosh it's been a while since I last posted on here. I'm back post surgery, and have invested in micro 4/3's via an E-PL1 and enjoying using it with my older lenses from 35mm days.
