When I owned a 2-1/4 Bronica I was more careful in composing my shots because I liked to see the whole-frame pictures. OTOH, my half-frame Pen-F didn't produce prints that took my breath away. My RX-100 pics amaze me cropped or not. What's my point? I don't know - just babbling while having...
I mounted my RX100 onto a quad copter. Surprisingly, there is little or no "jello" effect. Now i have to fine-tune the installation.

Do you have the Franiec grip? If not, you'll be surprised how it eases inserting the camera into your pocket and pulling it out, as well as securely holding it for one-hand shots. Just MHO.
Great tip! I wish someone would start a thread "Sony RX100 Secrets - Tips & Tricks". The extensive Menu, Sub-menus, and settings can be challenging for most casual users like me. The "?" button is a superb feature of the RX100. The learning curve is steep but I learn something new...
I had the same problem, which was solved by one of our forum members with this post...
"I don't have an RX100 but I'm gonna guess pressing Display (the up button on the 4-directional pad) switches between display modes?"
Hope that helps.

I've tried PAS, focus on the ring, etc., but for me, Intelligent Auto seem to be the best setting for superb landscapes, portraits, and macro/close ups -- just pull it out of my shirt pocket and take a shot.
]My RX100 isn't as macro-friendly as my 12mp Canon PowerShot SD950is, which has a convenient macro setting. So I've been using the Intelligent Auto (green symbol) setting on the dial for quick macro and closeup shots. The results are OK, but I was just wondering what settings others use for macro?
I had never heard of Eye-fi before until this thread. $100 for a 16gig card on Amazon is eye-watering, but gives me something to do research on. Thanks for posting.
My lifelong desire to own a serious compact (specifically, a Rollie 35 series) has finally been realized! I'll go to my grave with a big smile on my face!). LOL
I fly radio-controlled aerobatic planes (mostly 50-100cc engines.) I also fly model helicopters and multi-rotor helicopters. Here's a video of aerial videography using an RX100...

Here's the nylon carry pouch that I use when the RX100 isn't naked in my shirt pocket. I believe it's a Case Logic, and it has a front compartment where I store a micro tripod.
Even though I've been an amateur photographer since the 1950s (even ran the darkroom for my middle school around 1954), I don't recall the term "decentering". So I printed the Zeiss star, intending to do a test, but don't need to, since Amin has already evaluated that. BTW, my frist serious...
Thanks a lot, bartjeej...it worked exactly as you surmised...you're my "go-to" guy from now on, LOL...I like to turn on my RX100 by pressing the playback button, which shows me the last thing I was doing before shutdown. I can quickly go to shooting mode by half-pressing the shutter release...
I hope someone can help me on this "problem." It seems like my Playback button is defaulted to a screen that provides a lot of information that I don't need. I can revert to the screen that I prefer by pressing the Function button, or switch to shooting mode by half-pressing the shutter...

Took this picture of a tree in the courtyard of the Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki. Some people were gathered on a walkway at the bottom left of the picture which was taken hand-held on the "P" setting. Here's the full-frame and the crop.
My 'made in China' RX100 is a keeper...solid, technically capable, and need I say it again, fits in the pocket of my t-shirt...Some pics of our flying today...I'm in the third pic...
Still loving it! Four shots taken this morning from my back yard and a street shot (full-frame and cropped)...and a night shot! -and it fits in the pocket of my t-shirt!!!
I have been very satisfied with my three compacts: Sony S85 w/ Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar 4.1MP, Canon PowerShot SD950is Titanium 12.1MP, and now my RX100. The picture of my three compacts was taken with my iPhone4s. The picture of my daughter and 1-week old granddaughter was taken with the...
My RX100 is "out for delivery" by USPS Priority. Great pics like yours inspired me to get mine. Hope to start the unboxing when I get home. I've already read the manual and great postings on this forum many times.
