Fuji Okay, I joined Club Fuji...

Well...I'm now a full fledged member of the Fuji club! I took delivery of my X-Pro1 and love it. I still have my X100S and the love hasn't diminished at all. I do plan on getting the 14mm f/2.8 for the XP1 in the not-too-distant-future. Here is one representative pic that I've taken.

DAY NINE - Silver September 2013

Day nine...truck in parking lot. Not B&W but monotone. Tech note: Shot it JPG with my X100S and didn't realize...so there was some serious banding when I brought the exposure of the sky down...darn !!!

Fuji histogram - expose to the right

My solution for exposure on any camera if I have issues is not to rely on the histo. I shoot on of three ways: 1.) Hand held meter, camera on M. 2.) Shoot my palm to get a meter reading and M from there. 3.) Just shoot in A and let the camera decide what the exposure should be and only...

DAY EIGHT - Silver September 2013

Nice shots for Day 8...now I'm going to break that trend... 4:00am ISO 12,800 hand held at 1/20. Gotta love the Fuji X series camera's ISO abilities.

    Anyone thinking about going-DSLR again?

Nope...not me. I get just as good IQ from my X-pro1+35mm as i did from my Canon 5DIII + L lenses, and at 1/10 the weight...I'm happy. I also love carrying around the X100S everywhere I go and not getting stared at because I have a massive DSLR brick around my neck. If necessary I can do...

DAY SEVEN - Silver September 2013

I have to say, I'm a pixel peeper and not easily impressed...but this thing impresses me. In good light today I took an image of her and I cut my eye on the sharpness...she was freaking glowing...a f/2....I couldn't believe it...the picture sucked or I'd have posted it but I actually said out...

    Sony Showcase RX1 Images

I couldn't have put it better myself...that's why I'm selling my RX1 when it's plainly 10X the image quality as any other compact....it doesn't make sense on paper but I'm doing it anyway. I'll say it one last time just in case wishes come true. The ultimate camera: the RX1 with the Hybrid...

    Sony Showcase RX1 Images

I can only speak for myself, but I can summarize; Hybrid OVF of the X100S. I LOVE the Hybrid OVF...to me, looking through the EVF of the RX1 is like looking through a periscope. Using the LCD is not my cup of tea either...that's my rationale. The RX1 is good for a lot of things...but for me...

Sony Farewell my RX1 friends...it's been fun.

I just put my RX1 up for sale yesterday and wanted to say thanks for a lot of fun and guidance. I recently got an X100S again (to go with the RX1) and now, have found that though the IQ of the X100S most definitely isn't up to that standard, it's not a good enough reason to keep the RX1...

DAY TWO - Silver September 2013

Well...I posted one today and couldn't figure out why it wasn't here...it's because I posted two for yesterday! So..here is my late entry....the RX1 in B&W

Thanks for the heads up. That's one thing I HATE about flickr...when you replace an image it breaks the link...I don't know why it shouldn't just be a pointer to the same "spot"....argggg.... but it's fixed now.

    Fuji My Rig...the RX1 and X100S

I'd agree. I've said before, if they could put the RX1 guts into the X100S with it's hybrid viewfinder....I'd never own another camera again.
  35. R

    Fuji My Rig...the RX1 and X100S

No problem. The RX1 is for when I really want some IQ to come through...stuff that's important that's not street shots. The X100S is for street (where it excels) and for just casual shooting where it's not a disaster if the IQ isn't top notch (not to say that it's not good.)

    Fuji My Rig...the RX1 and X100S

Together these two cover what shooting I like to do. I taped notebook paper to the wall and desk. I set up the RX1 and took that shot with the X00S and then did the opposite for the X100S' shot. Then brought them into Photoshop and merged them. I think that the Fuji's image quality held...

    Fuji X100S Test: Food Photography

As you may know, I have an RX1 and I like taking images of my food when I eat or go out to eat. I know that in certain situations the X100S isn't a stellar performer, so I decided to take it out for lunch today at my favorite Mexican Restaurant and give it a real world test. Well, I'm happy to...

Sony Made a command decision today: I'm not going to try and turn the RX1 into something it's not.

Ok..I thought I'd come back and say that I finally got my X100S and I'm happy. It has it's own limitations but it does certain things very well...and coupled with the RX1 which has it's own set of things that it excels at...I'm happy with the set up...the whole thing fits in a Domke f/10 man bag...

Fuji The Everything Other Than Street X100 Image Thread.

Ok....finally took delivery of my X100S... I'm just getting used to it but here are two of my first images...sorry that they are only "work friends" images and not something spectacular :) Note that they were a bit "cleaner" looking but I put a VSCO film filter on both...just to dirty them up...

Sony Comparison of B&W Clear UV haze filter as a protector instead of lens cap.

I bought a B+W 49mm XS-Pro Clear UV Haze with Multi-Resistant Nano Coating (010M) filter to protect my lens, I decided to forego the lens cap and just use a clear filter and hood ala David Hobby. So...since I've never been a "protective filter" on the lens sort of a guy and that I'm a pixel...

DAY 25 : The Most Magnificent Serious Compact Photo Challenge

thanks! Seriously, the level of the camera was dead perfect...the framing...I was amazed. I couldn't have done this if I'd have looked through the viewfinder! (as my conventional shots prove) :)

Fuji Your thoughts on VIEWING street shots: from the hip or eye level?

As I look through lots of street images I realized that many many of them are shot "from the hip" with that particular vantage point...generally "looking up". I realized that people do this so others won't realize that they are taking images of them. I'd like to ask; what is your preference to...

DAY 25 : The Most Magnificent Serious Compact Photo Challenge

Day 25: Shooting blind. Stranger through the McBars... I estimated the distance to the gentleman, put the camera in manual focus, focused on a chair in front of me, turned the camera around...fully blind, no LCD no finder...no focus.... I couldn't have done better if I tried.
