Sony More RCubed Automotive shoots! - 2011 STi Sedan (Dirt and Gravel)

I had an opportunity to shoot a friend's 2011 STi in World Rally Blue. The forecast called for rain but we pushed for the photoshoot anyways. We decided to go for a dirty gravel road for the STi's rally heritage. He's sitting on KW V3's and Advan RS 18x8. This was shot using my Sony...

    Sony The NEX Image thread

Selective burning and dodging. Then a lot of selective curves, levels, color balance, channel mixer adjustments. For curves, gentle gentle S or C's. Play with individual color channels. And use more than 1 adjustment layer if necessary! I usually end up with 4-5 Curve adjustment layers alone...

    Sony The NEX Image thread

Went with a friend to the university 7AM to take these shots. I wanted to go in the morning to avoid the heavy traffic and pedestrians but found out later by a member on our local forum that our efforts were wasted. Weekends during exams season, theres no traffic anyways. Anyways, this shot was...

    Sony NEX- Automotive STROBING attempt!

Involved a couple hours of tweeking and airbrushing/burning/dodging to get it right. Lol :) I dont understand why they couldn't put a hotshoe onto the camera, or at least have a screw type hotshoe adapter! Its a pretty sweet camera, but quite limited at times. Theres always workarounds though...

Sony Game night: NEX-5 vs Vancouver Canucks.

Took the NEX to a hockey game last night. For whatever reason, I was not allowed to use a lens longer than 50mm. "Our goalie Roberto Luongo right before making the save" Click for Higher res This was shot with a Canon FD 50mm ƒ1.4. The shot itself was pretty boring so I went ahead...

    Sony Battery case for NP-FW50

Sony did a pretty good job with these batteries in terms of not exposing any contacts. I dont think a case is needed. On a similar note, has anyone tried non-OEM batteries with the NEXs? I want extra batteries but the OEM ones are pretty pricy!

Sony Sony NEX Infrared- Vancouver Night.

Thanks everyone. Heres another shot I took tonight. (Click for a higher res) Downtown Vancouver emits quite a bit of IR, which is reflected by the clouds tonight. :)

Sony Sony NEX Infrared- Vancouver Night.

Thanks everyone! :) As for the magenta tone, I didnt shoot raw and I didnt white balance the proper way for IR photography (I think you're supposed to WB with a greycard) so there was an intense red cast on the pictures. I processed as much as I could out. Yup! I can film with Ir. :) Im...

Its my dog's 4th birthday (shes 28 in dog years!) so I wanted to take a picture. Testing the Olympus G.Zuiko 50mm ƒ1.4 wide open with the NEX-5. Pretty awesome. Used a $14USD eBay adapter.. the distance to the sensor off, it focuses WAYY past infinity.

Sony Automotive Photography with the NEX

I just noticed you're from Vancouver too! I figured this camera would be light enough for high-risk stuff like this. Thats not to say I wasn't extremely nervous when doing it though! I have a Infrared Converted NEX-5 coming in the mail right now and im super excited to try it out. Ill share...

Sony Automotive Photography with the NEX

Thanks for the comments and the welcome! Putting the NEX up for a high speed rig shot made me nervous as well. Normally, I'd shoot with a Canon XSI and a helper to push the car at extremely low speeds but I was working solo in this case and brought the car up to 40km/hr.

Sony Automotive Photography with the NEX

Thawing her out in the morning. Trying a winter rolling shot' (Higher Res available by clicking the images.) When I first got this camera, I wasnt so sure I could still use the automotive rigs because of the lack of a RF or wired remote trigger. I attempted this on the weekend and the...
