Nikon Nikon A / Ricoh GR / Fuji X70 with the RX100 just to confuse things

Are you in a position to handle them? In terms of IQ they're all going to do the trick unless you're peaking pixels, so I think it will really come down to the user interface and ergonomics - ie. personal preference. If you can, go to a store, play with all three for an hour, buy the one...

    Converting TLR lenses

Just for fun... Has anyone ever attempted, or heard of someone attempting, to convert one of the classic TLR lenses (for instance, a Zeiss/Rollei 80mm Planar) to mirrorless, ie. Sony FE mount? Just curious if it could be done, and what would be involved. Cheers, Nick

I love the use of light and dark for the cruise ship shot - fantastic! 21mm is a surprisingly long way from 28mm!

Whats your favorite (Digital) camera for street photography

Not an issue. Set the ND filter to 'auto' and you'll never top out, even shooting at f2.8 in sunlight. Whether 28mm works for you is obviously a personal choice. My 2c though, putting some effort into learning how to shoot 28mm will make you a better photographer - it's not an easy focal...

Whats your favorite (Digital) camera for street photography

The GR has been it for me for a while now, although 28mm takes some getting used to. To be honest though, if you can't do it with the kit you have, the stuff you're talking about buying isn't going to help... Don't feed the beast! Take the money and go somewhere interesting (I can recommend...

    Overland Track, Tasmania

Most were with the VM 35/f2.5 and 50/f1.5. I think the first lake shot was with an old Leica 90mm Tele Elmarit.

    Overland Track, Tasmania

They're Pencil Pine's (Athrotaxis cupressoides) - very closely related to the King Billy Pine you photographed at Dove Lake. These were killed by bushfire in the 1960's. They can live for up to 1500 years but have no tolerance to fire.

Visiting Australia - Melbourne, Grampians, Tasmania, Sydney

Yep, most people do it over 6 days (except the runners, who do it in about 8 hours!). I don't know if you knew when you photographed it, but this is a King Billy Pine (Athrotaxis selaginoides) - quite rare and only found in alpine rainforests in the west of Tasmania. They can grow to around...

    Winter Hiking - Tasmania

Yep, for the most part I kept it either in a small pouch on my harness, or in a (mostly) waterproof pocket on my jacket if it was wet. I sat it in front of the heater each evening to thaw it out but it never stopped working... A few of the guests were carrying fairly high-end ILC's (Canon...

    Winter Hiking - Tasmania

I recently had the privilege of guiding one of our 'winter walks' on Tasmania's Overland Track. As a company we have only run a few of these, and this one was particularly special as it came a couple of weeks after the heaviest snow that Tassie has seen since the early 90's. A pretty amazing 7...

Film Lens and purchasing advice for Nikon FM2/n

Film Lens and purchasing advice for Nikon FM2/n

Thanks for everyone's thoughts. The F2 is bigger than I'd like, and while an FM3a would be fantastic, I expect it's beyond what I'm willing to pay... Thanks especially for the lens suggestions, I'm beginning to get an idea of what to keep an eye out for :)

Film Lens and purchasing advice for Nikon FM2/n

Hi everyone, I also posted this over at RFF, but hopefully some people have some good tips here too :) I have a bit of a thing for mechanical cameras and I've been seriously thinking about picking up a Nikon FM2 or FM2n. I've mostly shot with Pentax SLRs before, and so don't have a great deal...
