There are a few pre-views of the GR III starting to surface.
I found these two of some use, use your favorite translator to get the gist of the text

Hope you don't mind if I take this topic a little sideways
I've got an X-E3 with the 35mm f2 as a backup to my Ricoh GR. The first batch of 30 odd images are mostly disappointingly missed focus. A few hit the mark. I am unsure if its operator error as the 50mm equiv would demand more care than...
I have been a long time GR user, I still have them all and am very familiar with their use and shortcomings. edit: in the last several months I have sold off most and use the GR almost exclusively.
I am surprised by the negative reactions to the X70. The Coolpix A is essentially gone and other...
I'm considering a GM5 & Panasonic 42.5 to get the IOS. The Pana 42.5 rather than the Zuiko 45mm.
This kit teamed with my Ricoh GR to give me a 28mm/85mm pair.
Might shove a 25mm (50mm equivalent) in the middle later.
Its time I tried some 85mm to get me out of the 28mm only groove.
Cheers thanks. While there is an offer, I mainly try to use out of camera jpgs but will post process if it warrants it.
Are the results with Lightroom considered good these days? While I have other options its the only RAW processor that seem to gel with me.
I did not jump on board the initial flurry of excitement when the X-T1 was released some years ago. I checked one out at a dealers many months back. It was always a bit highly priced for me. I did sometime ago dump all my m43 gear on the used market and never replaced it with anything. My Ricoh...
Right now I am a bit more concerned with how many I've KEPT rather than owned.
There are a few that hold a rather silly keepsake, souvenir or memento status.
Some have a certain IQ so get kept as I'd have regrets if i sold them.
They are worsen the total number.
But the GR II is not on their Ricoh store at all.
I think they must have stock of GXR lenses then as they did pull down the Sigma DP1M and DP3 when stock ran out.
Thank you for the update. Looks like they dropped it from $950 when I inquired last week.
Its all a bit confusing as I was on their Ricoh shop expecting it to appear there https://www.crkennedy.com.au/ricoh/index.php?q=catalog/1
Seems the GR is more Pentax now than Ricoh?
I am quite disappointed that the Australian price is AU$950 which while inline with the US price of about $695 with the current exchange rate but it is still $100 more than the GR when it was first released. I bet the price won't shift if the exchange rate gets better.
Right now as much as I am...
Good move Bill, I did email the AU distributor and they said there are no more DP1M for sale, and I suspect the same for the DP3.
The DP2M would be the last of them here new and for once we had the best price in the world on them.
The original DP2 will often yield a look and images have what is described as a "pop" to them, its sometimes 3D.
The clarity and definition at base ISO is superb.
The Merrill loses some of this look at high res but the detail is immense.
I think some of the DP2 look is garnered back in LOW and...
Its not dead over here. Still being sold new albeit a lower price than when released.
Even if Nikon were to release a Coolpix A II at 24Mpixel I still consider the original 16Mpixel a superb instrument.
The file sizes would be smaller, and likely the lower res sensor better at lower light.
I...
Nice one Archiver,
While the GR and GR II are in another class, IMO the real sleeper of this lot is the GRD III.
The images from my GRD III were tack sharp and had a rendering and quality that dropped a bit with the IV.
The GRD III is a bit less sought after than the GRD IV and I have also...
The GR II special site is of some use, make sure you scroll down.
You can see some of the Wifi functions - GR | RICOH IMAGING
I might go the limited green ring version too, as I like that case!!
GR II Urban Leather Set|GR II | RICOH IMAGING
I am not disappointed in any way.
A minor upgrade for sure. Nonetheless it keeps the GR concept alive.
Perhaps Ricoh are putting many resources into the full frame Pentax.
I had been looking hard at Wifi cards for the existing GR. Not for social media use, but merely ease of data transfer when...
Yes, I have been there. Back toward the end of my film days I bought a MP with 50mm cron, it was new but a special deal at the time. I did sell of most other things to acquire it. Right now I'd have to sell most everything (camera wise) to acquire an RX1.
The more I look at the Leica I do like its implementation. Like Ray I find I have become very accustomed to 28mm having been a GRD and GR user for some years. I previously stated the Leica is a little big, but perhaps this is a fair trade considering the sensor size. So does the lens grow.
Maybe...
Ray, apologies for my terse reply to you earlier. I think to be fair, I am somewhat annoyed at Leica. Why could they not have done an integrated EVF like this with a MF lens (peaking) in the X1/X2 series and priced it accordingly? For some of us that is enough IQ. Sure we always want more but...
I think you miss my point Ray, I don't think the Leica will be worth it to - me - , 2 x RX1 or 8 Merrills and hence I won't be buying it, (even if the price drops). - I - would rather the "mix" for less money.
I can't see its IQ being any better than whats available but I will have a look when...
At this price you could buy two RX1s and a GR, or about 8 Sigma DP Merrills.
The Leica's IQ and usability had better be something pretty stellar as for the size factor nothing comes close to the Sigma DP Merrills.
The Merrills ARE the leading resolution, detail and DR IQ compacts.
A VF would be a first for a digital GR that is. Its odd that an essentially fixed focal length camera does not have one.
It would be easier to engineer than a zoom one.
Well, I bought all the other GRs when they came out, my obsession with them is such that I still have them all, so I may as well get this one.
My main wish is weather sealing.
I would buy two if there was a B/W only sensor version and a colour sensor version.
Happy mothers day all, I rounded up my brothers and we had lunch with mum.
She had a great day.
Luke that looks very much like an Kodak Instamatic print you have there.
I recently scanned a bunch of my film from the early 1970s.
I was impressed really how good the Instamatic could be if taken...
Not really, the DP3 lens is somewhat larger out at front. The DP2M and DP1M fairly flat. I believe the DP3 a tad slower focussing.
Some report the DP3 a little better built and many claim the DP3 IQ marginally better than the other two. The thinking is light rays being less bent and hitting the...
I shoot both RAW+JPG on my GR, Often IF the jpg is good enough I use that without processing the RAW.
Usually it will just be a postcard size print.
I shoot low enough quantity that I keep both.
from your question above I am reading that you sometimes shoot jpg only? So, need to keep them...

There was some comments flying about the webs that the curved sensor would mean a simpler lens design and that in turn should bring the cost down.
Likely more a hope than fact.
Tilt screen often a nice one.
As this forum is a little slow, I thought I'd ask what you would like to see in a RX2 and speculate on if ever there will be one and what it might include.
For me I'd like to see the same level of optical clarity and character that the existing lens has but if there is a curved sensor, I hope...
When I have a new set of prints or images to show my wife, each time I ask her, "Am I hired, or fired?"
Most times I am lucky to keep my job.
It interesting to see that she is quite a tough critic. Keeps me trying.
Thank you Louis for your review. It was both entertaining and an opinion I value.
I suppose if you look at retail prices the RX1 and an A7 or A7 II with a Loxia 35 is about the same cost or close to it.
With the A7 Loxia combo you do get a EVF and a tilt-able screen over the RX1. That aside the...
This post is heaps of fun. IMVHO, I like the FE55 best but I'd put the Elmar second with the DP3 third.
I would put the 21mm second but I think you are comparing apples with raspberries, nonetheless the 21 is nice.
The 35 I'd put last, its bokeh is distracting.
An interesting question is would...
I find this a rather interesting image.
Sure, Its the unusual shape of the building but also the rendering here.
I am always like to see images with large black or white areas, that work with the image.
I find the noise controlled and ok even if a little thick.
I am curious as to the ISO?
Ray,
I love doing this with my GR, it clears the head and hand of other extraneous things like what lens to use etc.
Most comparison reports I read said that the GR and Nikon A were on par but is it just me but somehow the A seem a tad better.
Probably just processing.
I did think myself that 24Mp sensor is a more likely upgrade rather than FF.
At times I think I could use a bit more res, although my prints don't really seem to need more. - Its only when pixel peeping you think you do.
I'd be in on a 24Mpixel version GR or A if for no other reason but to...
I see the Coolpix A has dropped in price in the USA.
Nikon's own online store and B&H have it for around $600.
Here in Australia no big price drop that I can see.
Best price in the order of AU$700 in bricks and mortar stores.
I did promise myself a go with one if they get cheap enough.
Hi all,
Do the Fuji X series lenses and bodies use any distortion correction methods in their lens designs like m4/3 does?
I recently understood that m4/3 in camera jpgs are also uprezzed once distortion correction is done to meet the specified file size.
I am curious as to if Fuji X...
I just did not like the build quality of the A7.
Coming from the EM-5 which was a precision instrument the A7 left me wondering.
I am now likely moving to a XT-1. A big part of the reason is the Fuji lens system.
For the me the A7 lenses are, too few, too expensive or too big.
The Fuji...
