Change of plans, Matt. I'll be using the M.Zuiko 17mm f1.8 with the E-P7 instead of the much older Pen F 38/1.8.

Animals The Animal Kingdom: wild or domestic!

Was this in the wild? I have only once been able to get a photo of a wild turkey. They are usually very skittish.

    Woodcraft

Lately I have been enjoying making small boxes from reclaimed wood. The first pic is of a Honduran Mahogany box I made from a vintage cigar box. I disassembled it carefully, sanded all surfaces to remove the graphics, reassembled it inside out, and I added a hidden wood hinge system with magnet...

    How's weather at your place?

It was very sunny and windy on this morning's bike ride. I drove to a part of our state that is 2-3 weeks behind where I live in both weather and foliage. Very beautiful, but the wind was fierce and cut through layers of clothing much of the morning.

Apparently a tiny yield sign on top of an 8 foot pole was needed in the event a cyclist encountered one of the non-existant tractors that cross this very remote trail.

    Riding bicycles

I'm finding my stamina still hasn't fully returned since I had COVID the first of November. I'm not an athlete, but usually 20-30 miles is no issue for me. My longest ride since I recovered has been 19 miles, and while I could have done more, I was pretty tired when I got back to my car. I've...

I discovered peaking does work with adapted lenses on the E-P7, but not at the same time as magnification. I can assign one or the other to be active with a manual lens, but not both. Peaking with an adapted lens on the E-P7 is very faint. However, they both work fine with a native lens, where...

I was told yesterday that there's a guy who drags his chair out onto the decrepit bridge in my image above and fishes the river. Wow.

My mint UK-made Record Plough Plane arrived today, complete with the original instructions and a full set of very sharp cutting irons in both metric and imperial sizes. I took it right out of the box, assembled it, and tested it on some well seasoned White Oak. Once I got the depth of cut...

Some of you may recall that I discovered a large spalted Silver Maple cut up and dumped in a ravine on our church property back in NOV 2021. I was able to cut and retrieve several decent size chunks, which I took home and milled into smaller chunks and slabs, to dry for future projects. Pieces...

    Riding bicycles

Yep, shorts and t-shirt for me, too. I tell people I'm not into competitive sports and I like for my clothes to fit loosely, so no lycra for me. Besides, I would look like a slightly over-stuffed sausage. :D

    Riding bicycles

Excellent thread. I enjoy bike riding, but I'm not nearly the die-hard that you seem to be. I estimated that I rode just under 2,000 miles last year, and not much over the winter - although I did do a handful of outdoor rides where the temperature ranged from 12F to 30F.

I'm in for the challenge, in more ways than one. I'll use my new Olympus E-P7, along with my old Olympus Pen-F 38mm f1.8 lens. If I'm not zone focusing, then getting in-focus shots with that combination is quite the adventure. Focus peaking works fine with native lenses, but doesn't seem to...

    Woodcraft

Sometimes I just don't want to go out to the garage and drag out the power tools. The Black Cherry bottom for my newest project needed cut to size, so I carefully laid out the cut lines, then cut slightly outside the lines with a Ryoba saw. A few minutes with the plane and an engineers square...
