    When I was shooting B&W (many years ago now) I almost always had a yellow x2 filter as a permanent fixture on my lens. This helps to darken skies and differentiate between tones. On occasions I would use a red (x4) filter to get a more dramatic sky.

    The 45mm f2.8 is a good lens, I have one of those and an 80mm f1.9 which is a great lens.

    Have you considered Mamiya 645? I have a pair of Mamiya 645 Supers, lovely cameras although I haven't used them for a while now. But a lot easier to carry round than 6x7 cameras.
