Leica Voigtlander 15mm 4.5 Heliar anybody?

I have the old version. It is great on my M8. So any corner issues are much less severe for me. I do not happen to be a wide angle kind of guy so it does not get much use. But it never fails to impress me when it is used. Mine is not rangefinder coupled. But the depth of field is so huge...

    Leica Very sharp, reasonable 35-40mm?

I use the 35mm Biogon 2.8 on my M8 and find its images to be excellent. It is what I would recommend. BTW, I do not find the maximum aperture of f/2.8 to be a negative at all. The depth of field that 35mm/2.8 gives does a beautiful job of drawing attention to what is in focus while allowing...

Leica Featured: 'Finding Clarity' by russelljtdyer

Russell - these are wonderful images. Great job! It is so wise of you to get help from a person more skilled. That is how those skills are passed on. :) I notice that each of these images is shot at f/2.8 or smaller aperture. I have found that f/2.8 and f/4 are two of my best apertures for...

Leica What's the case against using LTM lenses on an M8?

If anyone else has this question, the most concise answers available are given here by Quen and Brian. I think all of the pros and cons are listed. The bottom line is that a good LTM (the Leica screw thread mount) to M adapter works well. I own and frequently use a Voigtlander 50mm f/3.5...

Leica Walk at the Snail Lake Regional Park

    Leica Prettiness in the Garden

Actually it was the non-sharp look that attracts me to this image. I see it as impressionistic, a bit of a Monet Water Lillies effect. But it does not look like it is is an attempt to copy someone else's work. It is a Christilou look, I guess. That is why I like it.

    Leica Morning Reflections

Actually, the perspective is not high. It happens that the birds were lower. The Zeiss 25mm is one of my favorite lenses for the M8.2.

    Leica Leica T Announced

I have an M8.2, my only M. Months ago, as I realized that a newer M is not likely within my budget, I was thinking that I would really like to see Leica make an up-to-date replacement for my M8.2, which will not last forever. It would be nice to have live view so I could nail focus on some of...

Leica good scanner for B&W negatives?

Long, long ago when I was nearly always broke, I shot entirely in B&W and processed film and printed my shots with an enlarger in a darkroom. I do not want to set up the enlarger and darkroom thing again, but I recall that processing the film was simple enough in a dark bathroom since it...

    Leica Kaia'i with 24mm

Brian, thanks for the comments. I used the "Leica Universal Top (Linear) Polarizer Glass Filter - for M Lenses" a device I had not used much before. Leica Playing with light and architecture.

I like you choice of angles, especially for the second one. I would have messed it up by trying to get the street to be horizontal. But I prefer the tension or energy of your choice. I need to rethink my framing a bit now. Very refreshing work here.

    Leica Some photos from Miami

    Leica South Beach, Miami

The angles on the first one are beautiful. That was an excellent choice for framing. These are great shots. The Zeiss 25mm 2.8 Biogon is one of my favorite lenses. Of course on my M8.2, it is not as wide a field of view for me.

    Leica A Friend

Generally I am not a big fan of the little-bit-of-focus-in-a-sea-of-blur kind of photo. This photo really works for me. Christilou calls it "softness and movement." I think that is right. Somehow this one really works. Excellent and memorable image!

    Leica Showcase Leica M Monochrom

    Leica Choices

Angst. I cannot help. But the 25mm Biogon is in my top three lenses. I cannot think of a disappointment from it ever. I recommend not being afraid of your skill in focus or choice of exposure. If that fear is your main trouble, then just relax and take lots of pictures.

    Leica Tracks at noon

Footprints in snow, train tracks receding to distance off-center, winter leafless trees, sun-star. These can be cliche. But in this photo they all work together. I think the shadows and the wise choice of exposure bring everything together. I really like this one. And once again, I like a...

    Leica The Artist's Hands

Excellent composition. Especially impressive is the wise choice of of depth of field. Not to thin, not too wide, just right. That can be tricky with 90mm and a relatively short object distance. I like the fact that even some of the finger reflections are in focus. Spot on! Excellent.

    Leica Clock Tower

First I was drawn by the image quality, particularly on the tower. Then as I gazed, I was captured by the composition. I see five regions, pleasingly placed together, like blocks in a wall (or tower) to make the whole picture. I like the juxtaposition of light and dark, angles and curves...
